I want to know if anyone has pushed these 1,400 fps or so.... + or -

My intensions were to use longshot for 1,250 but could use magnum primers and w296 for higher velocity. I'm not using this on game just practice with magnum loads without the cost.

I have done some beginning load work up with the Xtreme 158 gr PHP (chosen because they say it is thick plated and good to 1500 fps - not sure about the RNFP). My beginning load of 15.0 gr H110 with magnum primers yielded 1235 fps average (1300 fps max) from my 4" Taurus M66 and 1724 fps ave (1790 fps max) from my 20" Rossi Model 92. I haven't finished the load development so I can't comment on accuracy yet but it seemed promising. I picked up some Longshot and want to experiment with it but haven't had the time yet so I'll be interested to hear your experience.

I've use that bullet in a lever action, velocities were about 1500 fps with 2400 and Accurate #7.
For revolver the trick is preventing bullet jump.

Wow.. 1,700 fps from the Rossi

I guess I will see how much crimp I can put on it.

Just for comparison, I clocked the Blazer Brass .357 Mag 158 gr JHP at a little over 1800 fps, and 1625 fps with HSM's 180 gr Bear Load. Pretty amazing what a 20" barrel does for velocities.

My 16" 92

158gr XTP
17.3gr win296

ave fps - 1748

140gr XTP's are going 1963

That's a pretty good THWACK for a handy little carbine :D
