I'm looking for a good used Quad to use for hunting and just fun for my son.

I found this in the local adds, but don't know anything about these quads.

Anyone know if this is a good brand or not? It has the racks in front and back, which is what I am looking for to use it for hauling wood, deer or what ever.

Good brand. It's a 250 cc utility quad made for full size riders. I wouldn't recommend it for hauling trees or mud bogging, but for general hunting/fun use, it will do just fine.

When quads first came out, 250cc was upscale. It was one of the largest displacement motors you could find. Now, it's on the small side. They're making them up to 700-800cc now, but for hunting or pulling a small trailer of firewood, it should work well. Just know that it's not a tractor, mud bogger or dune buggy. It's on the small side of somewhere in between. Yamaha is a reputable brand. No more goes wrong with them than any other brand, and I've ridden 4-wheelers for some 16 years, and owned 2 Hondas, 1 Yamaha, and 1 Suzuki.

yamaha bear tracker

I have one, a 2001. Its great for pulling deer out of the woods, but it will not pull a trailer of firewood over any kind of an incline so dont even try it. I have had 1 doe in front rack and one in the rear with no problem. I have had 1 person sitting on the front, one on each side and rear for short periods on flat ground. I have generally abused it, and it still runs fine. I would recommend a 4wd suzuki king quad 300 or honda 300 4x4 and not the bear tracker for hunting since it does get stuck on me at least twice a year and i have to break out my winch which sucks, especially in mud or river crossings...
