What is the general consensus of the YHM?

Does it suppress as well as others in it's class? Are there other suppressors in it's class that I should consider? Is $325.00 plus tax stamp a good price.

It will be used on a .22 LR, both pistol and rifle.

yes it does. i have been using one for years on both a pistol and machine gun. they work fine.

if you don't already have a dealer in your state, call steve at promisedlandguns.com

I've got customers that own a Mite and they're not a fan compared to other products on the market.

For the money you outlined - $325, gets you a Gemtech Outback 2, which is pretty much the gold standard as far as 22 cans. Also excellent in that price is the AAC Pilot.

I thought the mite was loud on a walter p22 and opted for a Tac65 instead. I have considered getting one that would stay on my 10/22 but my dealer has S/Steel mites for $200 even if I remember?

b-4-u buy a suppressor for single minded .22 rifle or pistol look into a suppressor that will handle multiple .22 cal uses: .22, 22 mag, .223, 5.56. Sure it will cost you a bit more in the long run but you will have MULTIPLE USE of one suppressor and you won't have to get another one for other than .22 lr.

u-c I made that mistake! I Single-mindedly bought an Gemtech OutBAck 2[OB2]. The more knowledgable I became about suppressor's the more I realized I SHOULD'A BOUGHT one WITH A HIGHER 22-CAL RATING. Now I want a suppressor for 22-cal above the 22 LR.

Next there is a issue/flap/marketing concern about a sealed can vs a cleanable can. The 'sealed' can ya just shoot it until it stops to function properly then ya gotta send it in to be 'rebuilt' or just cleaned.....but by that time the company who made the suppressor may no longer be in business.

My OB2 is a sealed can but Gemtech has designed a system that allows me to send this back to them so they can make it a 'cleanable' can...more money for them....more money I have to spend. Wish they would have offered a coupon to their 'loyal' customer's.....anyone from Gemtech reading this... ;O)

Also know that a suppressor works BEST with SUBSONIC AMMO 1150 FPS OR SLOWER; STANDARD FACTORY AMMO it is loud but certainly not as loud when no suppressor is attached.
Attached is another branch of suppressor information: screw on or quick-on , quick-off .....for the life of me I can not recall the correct term/jargon..grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:fire::fire:

I was smarter buying my next Suppressor which is usable with my .308, 06, 300 WinMag but not my 300 Ultra Mag...which I'll prolly sell....but it is a sealed can....and is not prone to getting as dirty as a .22LR can.

BE WARNED...once u r smitten by having a suppressor you're gonna ask your self: where have you been all my life.....:D:D:D

I will soon be obtaining a YHM Mite myself. Being able to clean it was a big factor for me. I will be putting it on my Walther P22.

I have one and have been happy overall. It is very small, light, can be taken apart, and suppresses very well (not great)....mine was about $250. I will say that you need to clean it after every time you shoot, not the 1000 rds the manual said. It had to go back to Yankee Hill to be disassembled; they have since updated the manual. They covered the rebuild the first/only time, they are a very good company.

I got the Mite for a very specific purpose, packing in a backpack with my P22 for varmints...but it has turned into a range toy for me. New shooters really like shooting more with a can. With subsonics out of my TC Contender the bullet strike is louder than the firearm. I have put over 3000 rounds through my Mite, mostly with a 10/22 and the P22.

I cannot imagine shooting a lot of .22 through a can that doesn't dissemble, it is so dirty. If size or weight isn't a big deal, I would look at a can that can handle a .22 mag or 5.56. The SilencerCo Sparrow has a clamshell design for easy disassembly and will handle .22 mag, it will be my next .22 can.

I have a YMH Mite. Bottom line, it's loud on on a pistol even with subsonic ammo. It is "Hollywood" quiet on a bolt action .22 rifle w/ subs or standard velocity. It is a little noisier on a 10/22 because of the bolt slap. $325.00 is way too much for a Mite. This is a link to a good selection of rimfire suppressor w/ national pricing.

Good Luck!

My Stainless Mite is very quiet with any ammo slower than 1070fps. It sounds best out of my Savage bolt gun but is still very quiet through all my semi auto pistols. In no case would I say it is loud. I can easily shoot without ear protection with all my hosts. Air gun quiet. It's actually fun to shoot all sorts of different ammo, sub and supersonic, just to hear the sound differences that each round makes. I've never shot the aluminum version of this can and was wondering if that might be the difference in sound suppresion that some are experiencing.

I would like to do that with a 7.62 can to use on 7.62 and 5.56 rifles, however I don't think I'd like hanging a 1 1/2lb. 7" long 5.56 rated can off the end of my walther P22.

I got my YHM Mite for $225 plus the tax stamp and I am very pleased with it. I wanted something to use in my back yard range to keep the neighbors happy. I have 4 platforms that I use my Mite on and some are better than others but they are all more than acceptable for quiet backyard shooting. I'll give you a breakdown of my results though.

Host 1
Advantage Arms Glock 23 .22LR Conversion
Decently quiet with Subsonic Rounds, even more so with a quick squirt of wire pulling Gel

Host 2
GSG 1911 .22LR
Super quiet with subsonic rounds dry, Hollywood quiet wet. Even sounds pretty darn good using bulk pack .22. By far the quietest .22 host I've found.

Host 3
GSG-5PK .22LR
With the short barrel I was hoping to use bulk pack .22 without the crack but no dice. However with subsonic ammo this combo is very quiet on par with the AA Glock kit.

Host 4
S&W M&P 15-22
By far the loudest of all the hosts which I think is more due to bolt slap than suppressor function. Still comfortable to shoot sans hearing protection and quiet enough for the back yard. Doesn't really differ between wet and dry.

I've also gone through quiet a few different subsonic ammo trying to find the best combo:

1. Remington Subsonic: Easiest to find since it's sold at Walmart locally. Relatively quiet in the pistols and is fairly reliable in cycling each of my hosts. Unfortunately as is commonly known it is horribly inconsistent and with the M&P 15-22 especially it will sometimes give a crack.

2. Aguila Subsonic HP and SP: For all the rave about Aquila ammo I was sorely disappointed with its results. It was no quieter than the Remington Subsonic and failed to cycle every host save for the M&P 15-22

3. CCI Subsonic: Save for the price this would likely be my top choice for Subsonic Ammo. It reliably cycles each host and unlike the Remington has consistent powder loads that keep each shot under the sound barrier.

4. Fiocchi Subsonic: This round was listed as the slowest (950FPS) of all the rounds so I half expected a super quiet non cycling round. What I got was the exact same as most of the other quality subsonic rounds with no noticeable difference in sound.

5. Winchester Subsonic: This has been the winner of the Subsonic Round contest for me. It cycles the actions reliably, is consistently quiet, and is just slightly cheaper than the CCI.

After some research, I'm leaning toward a SS Sparrow. This will be used as a high volume plinker on a CZ 452, and a Walther P-22.

Any thoughts?

And what's a good price?

I have a SWR Spectre and am very happy with it. On the other hand, I have heard nothing but positive praises about the Sparrow, though I have never had the opportunity to try one. I would definitely get a can that I could clean as 22 makes a mess after a while.

That was a requirement when I was looking for one. It had to come apart so I could clean it.
