1911 guy

Quick background. I'm not a shotgun guy. I am pretty good with a rifle and a handgun, but my shotgunning is limited to chasing bunnies and birds in the fall. When I'm having a "good" day, serious shotgunners are laughing at me.
My son is old enough that he needs his own shotgun, I have a youth model 12 gauge Mossberg 500 that I intended to buy another to give to him. None of the dealers in my area stock them or can readily order them. Second option was to buy myself another shotgun and give him the one I was using. I found the shorter youth stock handy when bundled up in January and February chasing rabbits. I went with option #2, he's getting the youth model I already own and i bought myself another shotgun.
I reload and intend to load some light loads for him in the pump gun until he's more comfortable and able to handle "regular" recoil.
To make this short, I looked at what was on the shelf and for the price of another Mossberg 500 I got something I've never heard of but quick cell phone google at the counter showed no negative information. Dickinson 212WR. Autoloading 12ga.
Those of you who are far more educated about scatterguns than I, please enlighten me. Did i buy a good gun I just hadn't heard of until now, or should I start looking for a sucker, I mean buyer, now?
