Man Shot, Killed in Apparent Road Rage.

KSAT - San Antonio, Tx.

One man was shot and killed Tuesday morning, but the man who pulled the trigger will likely not face charges, police said.

Two vehicles were on Huebner Road, but when they both reached the Fredericksburg Road intersection, one man got out of his vehicle and began attacking the other with a baseball bat, police said.

When the man with the bat tried to attack the driver, investigators said, the second driver pulled out a gun and shot the first driver twice.

The man with the baseball bat died at the hospital. His identity has not been released.

The shooter ? whose identity has also not been released ? had a license to carry a concealed weapon and investigators said he acted in self-defense and will not immediately face charges.

The case will be sent to the district attorney?s office for review.

Lot more effective than the Police this time, and that's no surprise at all. :fire:

One more psycho with a baseball bat that our children don't have to worry about.

I don't think any of us are happy about someone being dead. We are, however, happy about having a slightly safer environment for our friends and families.

zespectre i hadn't considered that

just wonder in the paucity of detail in the story what kept the shooter from driving away

and whether now he'll wish he had

I doubt we need to start a war here over such a skimpily informed situation. Man A attacked Man B with deadly bodily intention, Man B defended himself. That's all we know friends, so why start a thread war, do it with personal IM's if you feel the need.

I kind of wonder what the rest of the story is on this one.

I'll reserve further comment having seem some people in the past get set up for a thrashing where the bad guy ends up looking like the good guy due to having set up the good guy to look bad. For all we know the shooter just attacked the baseball bat guy's wife and the baseball bat guy just caught up with him at that intersection, don't know, can't say, but until I hear the rest of the story I'll just reserve judgement. Think about it.

sounds like the bat-wielder was in front of his car with nowhere for him to go, and yes i was excited because so far it doesn't sound like he's being made out to be a raving paranoid maniac for carrying or a vigilante for keeping himself safe.

good point cyclist hope it turns out exactly as reported tho

I wouldn't say it was out of line to ask politely what you thought was so wonderful about a roadside homicide, Shawnee.
There's almost no information there; I wouldn't invest a lot of work into choosing up sides based on that short anecdote.

wonder how the shooter feels
Probably a lot better than he'd feel if he were dead or in a permanent vegetative state because he let somebody beat his head in with a baseball bat.

A while back, neo-Nazi leader Tom Metzger met with a couple of skinheads and put them up to attacking Black people on the streets. They caught an Ethiopian guy and beat him to death with bats. They ended up doing long prison stretches. Metzger was sued for his role and ended up losing his behind in court.

Never laugh at the threat of somebody with a bat. More than a couple of people have been murdered with them. If you don't believe me, approach a cop aggressively with one. See if you get the Tazer or the Glock. I'm betting the LAST thing you ever feel WON'T be electricity...

I had an incident many moons back in which the opportunity to drive away was most tempting, and I'm glad I didn't. Had the shooter done so he would be in deep guano. In TX every shooting goes before a grand jury, no matter how justified. Dollars to donuts the shooter gets no billed. As far as feeling bad about the fate of the shootee: 1) Don't attack people 2) Don't bring a bat to a gun fight.

Not enough info in this story to determine if the shooter was trapped and couldn't flee or chose to shoot instead of fleeing.

Or maybe he was driving a convertible.

Or maybe he was in a Jeep with plastic unzipped windows.

Or.....

or maybe it was i:30 in the am things happened real fast and he made what seemed like his best choice. question is does it still feel like a good choice.i don't mean in the court i mean inside where a mans gotta live

Once you are hit proper with a bat one time, you are probably stunned and free to be beat as deired or as needed by your attacker at will...

You are at their mercy from that point on... Who wants to be at the mercy of someone that will attack you with a batin a seconds notice?

We need a new poll.

Hypothetical situation:

You're in your car (hardtop with rollup glass windows) and armed. Nut job goes postal while driving his car. Both of you stop at a stoplight. You're not boxed in.

He jumps from his car with a Louisville Slugger and runs toward your car.

What do you do?

1. Gas it and get the hail outta Dodge
2. Draw, show him the gun while calling 911 from your cell
3. Shout a warning while brandishing your pistol
4. Roll down window/open door and double tap him

Wha'chu say?
