Yet another lefty issue? - Glock compact mag release

I'm a new Glock owner. Got a Glock 30 recently, have maybe 250rd through it since I bought it.

Any other lefties out there have trouble with the mag release? Specifically, the opposite side of the release getting caught under your thumb.

My only thought is that maybe it's the fact that it's a compact gun issue only? I have 3 fullsize 1911's, their safeties do the same thing, yet I have no trouble. Maybe a different grip is required on the compact gun, thus making my thumb hold the mag release in?

It wouldn't be such an issue if I could feel what was happening. Unfortunately, however, I can't feel the pressure under my thumb, and end up fumbling around during rapid fire doing a mag change, until it dawns on me what's really going on.

Is there a fix, or is this simply a case of operator error?

Every time I shoot any Glock the mag release digs into my trigger finger when it recoils....that's why I don't have a Glock...also happens when some autos have an extended mag release.I guess we just need to find what works.
The Springfield XD on the other hand has recesed mag release and works great for lefties...

The Glock factory mag release was always a big "pain" for me too. It digs into my trigger finger when I shoot, and the sharp corner wasn't really fun when dropping the mag with my middle finger either.

I don't have any problem with mag releases on the left side of the pistol, but the Glock's just sticks out so far on the front side...

I've owned 5 Glocks in my time. Don't own any now, don't plan to own any later. Just too many things to "get over" or "get used to" for me.

Sounds like a compact issue to me, my thumb is well above the opposite side of the release with a 17 and 34. Maybe try a little piece of grip tape up above where you want your thumb to sit, you will shortly learn the right feel of the thumb placement that way. The stock release doesn't attack my middle finger, but the extended release on the 34 got blood in 10 rounds. I promptly unloaded it and proceeded to customize the thing, with my pocketknife. Just lop off whatever sharp corner pokes you, works like a charm.

Any gun that can be customized with a penknife and a bottle of armor-all should be suspect.

I dunno, after seein your first year's match result, I might wanna borrow that pen knife. That friggin thing must be magic!

Armor all eh? You prefer the bulk bottle concentrate or the wipes?

Lefty here too.

Havent had any problems with the mag release rubbin on my trigger finger. Matter of fact, dont remember the thumb getting in the way of the mag release on the other side either. Only thing that did was my slip on Hogue grip. Use a Hogue cause its a Gen II and I like the finger grooves.

Then again, its been almost 6 months since I've shot the Glockster.

Agree Glocks mag releases {both ext. & reg.} are way too sharp.
Am LH also and use the extended release on all including a 26.
Use the first knuckle of my trigger finger to operate same but
one of the 1st things I do with a new-to-me Glock is remove the
release and round its corners off with one of those Norton foam sanding blocks Home Depot carries. Quick, works great & able to
remove exactly what you want opposed to a file, etc.
