Yet another Security Six Thread (pics)

A couple of months ago I picked up a Security Six 4" and a Speed Six 2.75 inch. Today I added to the litter, I picked up this Security Six 6". I have really grown to like these revolvers, it is hard to believe they are 30+ years old.

Here is the litter, I think I need to put the wood grips back on the other two.

WOW, those guns and the pics are nice. I'm with you on the addiction...0 to 3 in the last year. IMO they are machined better than the newer guns. I've never had new/used guns with a tighter lockup. Congratulations on a nice litter!

The wood grips are purty, but they're not very functional with magnum rounds. You can put a Tyler grip adaptor on them, but I think the guns are great as is. Don't put wood grips on them. Stainless guns are made for use in all types of weather, so wood is problematic to begin with.

I saw some hunters in Ketchikan, Alaska, and I'll tell you, it was raining all the time. People didn't even use umbrellas! But stainless guns really need rubber grips if the guns are going to be used. My brother lives in Utah and he carries his 6-inch Security-Six while hiking in the mountains. Hauling a 686 would be prohibitive. I'm mad at S&W anyway because they no longer supply beautiful wood grips or hard chrome their hammers and triggers. Their stainless guns look like they're sand papered, while Taurus stainless guns are beautifully polished. I'm not a big Taurus fan because they don't watch their tolerances, but if they can polish their guns and make them look nice, why can't S&W?

You're lucky to have your Rugers. They're the best .357s ever made for the money.

He just needs the right gear, I haul my 4" Anaconda all day in the woods, and yes, I mean the Colt Anaconda

Ahhhhh the good old days

Carried Rugers when I was in LE - long ago - far far away. Had my 4 inch worked on a little and got to where I could put 18 rounds in the KZ in 30 seconds and 7 yards - slick little gun . Excellent weapons! Got caught up in the "auto" surge but have returned to wheel guns thanks to SASS.
Really miss my 4 inch but had to pau for grad-school. Carry - S&W 60 3inch or when I'm feeling feisty a 625 4 inch.

Be careful, the more you see the more you want. The revolver virus is easy to catch, and they haven't found a cure yet. I sold my autos to help relieve the symptoms.

You are a glutton for punishment, sir. But it could be worse. You could be hauling a 6-inch. I saw one of those monsters and lost all desire to own one. The size and weight were more than I expected.

True, you could get a fancy holster and carry it, I suppose, but could you carry that and a Cold Steel Rajah II or an Ontario Raider!
