Has anyone been using a YHM 5.56NATO barrel for a while and can comment on quality and accuracy? I'm looking at maybe picking up a couple of their 1:7" twist 16" chrome lined barrels...

I have their 20" 1:9 chrome lined,diamond fluted.

Finish is kinda "flatter" almost greyish. Not shiny black. It is even and haven't had any problems with it coming off. No complaints.

Now performance. The sin I am guilty of is, I tend to be more of a tinkerer and builder than a shooter. So I am not a good shot by any means. The rifle is free floated with a VTAC. It wears a YHM Phantom muzzle brake with a .308 Phantom suppressor. Topped with a Leupold Mark AR 4X12. I have gotten 2" groups with 55 grain PMC and 1.75ish" with Privi Partisan 55 grain mil-spec.

Overall I am happy with my $195 purchase. I wish I could remember where I got it. It was very hard to find one in stock. I do believe I bought the last one on the internet at the time.

This was for a DMRish rifle, which the fluted barrel was perfect for. I wouldn't use it for a designated bench gun but its a decent barrel.

I recently built up a light weight configuration using the 16" YHM barrel with the diamond flutes and shot it using a cheap chinese red dot.

At 50 yards I kept 60 rounds inside of 4-inches.

Backing off to 100 I shot 60 rounds with about 1/3rd of the rounds falling outside of the 4 inch bull, but nothing outside of the 8" orange bull. This was to check to see if I could use it for a pig hunting trip that I wound up not going on.

Ammo was either Radway surplus or Blackhills in 55gr. I don't remember what i had loaded in the mags - but it was not premium stuff.

I have now put a scope on the AR to see what it will really do - but i have not had an opportunity to shoot. I do think the barrel has potential.
