Yep, thats what the U.S. Game and Fish allows us. But, I filled that quota and requested another 400. Should get the permit any day now. Good thing, cause I'm using pyrotechnics now and when one of them goes off the ground seems to move. The movement is the hundreds of doves on the infield in the morning.
Its an invasion down here.
I will try and get pictures for you all to see the misery I am dealing with.
Went down to Weslaco for the special white wing season. Limit was 12 doves with no more then 4 Regular Doves. Killed my 4 doves quick, then had to be very selective about the next shots. Ended up seeing only a handful of whitewing. The next day, we got out to the field about 2:00 (hunting time was 12:00 to sundown). We could have hunted hard and limited, but decided to sit on the tailgate and wait for them to come to us enjoying the day and catching up with friends. Killed a handful of whitewing, passed on the regulars. Left to go to a party before they really started flying. All in all, I consider it a succesful weekend hunt.
Plus, the doves got me ready for Early Teal season on the 23rd.
