:( according to the Indiana rural electric consumer magazine,,you are a possible meth maker,,,,

heres the link, showing the pic they show in the paper&online version, but the paper version,,went on down the list,,and at the end, it said,,lots of guns, and lots of money,,,,well,,what constitutes alot of guns, and just how much is too much money,,

if your in indiana,,find the paper version,,and let me know,, how you take it,,,

http://indremcs.org/ec/article.php?sid=106

but if you read the paper version,,I can see some doogooders calling the cops of,,,oh the people down the road,,oh,,they got guns!,,catch the drift,,,,,,,,

as for me, it pisses me off,:cuss: ,,(yes I know meth is a problem) but the way they show it in the magazine,,it makes out anyone with guns(lots ,,how many???)and if you are out of debt,,and do have money on hand,,
well now you are being profiled as a criminal,,,:banghead:

I think you're overreacting.

I don't think so. Nowdays day the police can get a warrent if they think your power bill is too high. One couple found this out the hard way when they got busted, keep in mind they have six kids.

Keep in mind that you may be considered a drug dealer or "strange" if you own more then a handfull of guns or buy ammo a 1000 rounds at a time...

I think you're over reacting

How can you recognize a meth lab? Alone, any of these activities or signs may not mean meth manufacturing is occurring. However, a combination of them may indicate a problem:
• Strong odors of solvents or ammonia coming from the house, garage or detached buildings.
• Windows blacked out or curtains always drawn.
• Exhaust fans running constantly; windows open in all weather.
• Excessive trash with numerous empty bottles and containers, coffee filters with red stains, and lithium batteries that have been broken open.
• Visitors and activity at all hours.
• Person doesn't work, yet seems to have money, pays bills with cash.
• Presence of weapons, especially sawed-off shotguns, handguns.
• Extensive security in place, or odd "No Trespassing" signs posted, or boldy painted on buildings.
• Presence of precursors used to make meth — multiple packages of cold tablets containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine, cans of engine starter fluid, camping fuel, anti-freeze, drain cleaner, salt, acids, jugs, jars and bottles, funnels and tubing, propane or pressurized tanks (often stained with blue-green corrosion and fitted with make-shift valves).

Most cookers also use. Use of meth causes paranoia. We often find sawed off shotguns and rifles with meth. I would recommend that if you are out in the woods, on a farm or other isolated area and you come across any of the signs of a lab, don't touch anything. It's extremely hazardous, especially if they are using anhydrous ammonia. Just leave the area and call the authorites. It takes special skill and equipment to clean up a lab.

Back to the article, I don't see anything out of bounds here. Note the part I highlighted in bold text.

Signs you will see at the Cosmo Compound :D

• Strong odors of diesel, kerosene, propane coming from various structures
• Windows? None, just gun-ports.
• Doors missing in all weather, replaced with woolen air traps.
• Vast trash mizzens from the winter being burned in 55 gallon drums.
• Odd activity at all hours, including random gunfire.
• Occupants pay only cash, dress oddly, rarely bathe..
• Enough weapons to hold a platoon of Chinese paratroops at bay.
• Extensive security in place, or odd "No Trespassing" signs posted, or boldy painted on buildings.
• Presence of precursors used to make meth — multiple packages of cold tablets containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine, cans of engine starter fluid, camping fuel, anti-freeze, drain cleaner, salt, acids, jugs, jars and bottles, funnels and tubing, propane or pressurized tanks .

Yup, all that and more! But oddly enough, I don't even know how to make meth.

Sawed-off shotguns. Assuming they mean sawed to less than 18", then it's an NFA item.

If the guy is leaving NFA items around outside, chances are he's not legally able to posess 'em.

Sorry, but this dosen't really seem that strange.

YES, having lots of guns (esp illegal guns), chemicals, never working, activity all hours, and paying in cash DOES sound like a drug dealer. It could be me too. But even I've gotta admit I fit the profile.

Actually, what sounds more like a drug dealer is someone smart enough to do almost none of the above, who still makes drugs.

If I were going to rob a bank for instance, I wouldn't leave blueprints on my front lawn, and ski masks carelessly littering my driveway.

Cosmoline :D

Hey I did make it back the other day from buying sudaphed, acetone, mineral spirits, lighter fluid, Benedryl, Tylenol, BBQ, Simple Green, and the new Snicker's Smores candy bar...all while carry CCW, and even brought in a box of ammo from the p/u truck.

Got home, ten minutes later electricity goes off...I hear a helicopter overhead. I figured THR was pulling my leg. :)

Can't a fella have a sinus headache without somebody running the stoplight and hitting a light pole? ;) Had to eat lukewarm BBQ ...ain't no bad BBQ...them Smores are addictive tho'. :)

I poor...makes me legal - huh? ;)

whop...whop...whop...whop...

The dumb ones get caught due to being users or not having enough disapline to control themselfs when spending money. The smarts ones keep a low profile.

(artherd) illegal guns
Anyone else think that there should be no such thing as an "illegal gun"? What a stupid concept!

(Jeff White) Just leave the area and call the authorities.

If I see a "meth lab" somewhere off my property, I sure as heck ain't callin' no "authorities".

If meth could be made in factories like any other product, there would be no scary "meth labs".

In my neck of the woods (literally "woods") and other rural parts of PRK, the people who make crank and grow marijuana for money are not nice. Many of them carry guns, and some of those will kill you if they think you're trying to f*ck with them.

If I accidently found some professional drug producers, I absolutely would high-tail-it out of there, and wouldn't hesitate to call the cops.

At my last duty station, Ft Lewis, WA, they find a meth lab out in the training areas (in the woods) about every month or so. Don't think they've ever found the meth makers actually there.

Although I'd love to be there if a Ranger unit on a night training mission happened across some meth maggots working their lab.

I just worry about people with the "busybody complex"

A rational person could evaluate whether there were enough suspicious signs about a place to know whether to turn it in. But it seems like "rational persons" are in short supply these days. Besides, it only takes one irrational busybody to make your life miserable.

I fit several of the indicators: work from home so I might not appear to have a legitimate income; am always armed at home; when its real cold in the winter we hang up blankets on the windows to conserve heat (use woodstove only).

Of course I talk to my few neighbors occasionally, so they know me.

It helps to have some really weird people in the neighborhood also for comparison... :D
