Guess I finally gave in to the call of the Kool-Aid :D

Well, I haven't brought my Sig out to the range in about a year (been practicing with my 1911 almost exclusively...it's alot more accurate), and got the hankering for a smaller auto for summer carry, so sold the Sig, ammo, holsters, and dies and bought a Glock 19. Still have some money left over, so I think I'll go pick up a holster and a few more magazines.

If I had another option, I wouldn't have sold the Sig, but it hasn't really grown on me as much as my 1911, and the Missus has a strict "If you want a new one, sell an old one" policy.

Should be taking a trip the range either this weekend or next. I'll let you guys know how she does.

Welcome to the Darkside where The Force is strong!
Superb choice on the G19.Congrats.
Which model Sig did you sell btw?

Yep! I've pulled a few boners in my time as well.

Thanks, that was exactly what I wanted to read on THR on a Sunday afternoon.:uhoh:

Anyway, congrats on the Glock 19 - I think it represents the best all around pistol in the series.

Well, fortunately for you, you bought a glock. And its unfortunate at the same time. While you will be thrilled with the bang every time you pull the trigger you will eventually get bored with it never malfunctioning and just rapidly eating ammo. :)

Congratulations. The only problems I have with Glocks is, that once you buy one, you want to buy some more. It can get expensive. Enjoy your Glock. I love mine.

Speak for yourself.
I bought a G-23, put about 400 rounds through it in ten years, traded it for a G-19 that I put about 200 rounds through, then sold it.

About half the rounds put through each were fired by someone else--teaching someone else to shoot.

Anything double-stack is too fat for me to CCW, so it becomes a range toy. I have no room in my safe anything I don't carry, with the exception of my .22LRs.

that depends mostly on your clothing and holster. in the cooler months here, i carry a full sized 12 round magazine 45acp with no problems. now, i don't necessarily look sexy, but i really dont care about that. i have been married for 22 years, so catching a cute chicks eye is really not on my mind. and @ 51, i am sure not on theirs either!

mine tried the same thing - I quickly replied that she'd be the first thing to go for a "new one."

She quickly turned her policy into "I want one too." & "You buy one for you than buy one for me"

Come to the Dark-side, we have cookies!

:D Unfortuately, mine merely tollerates me owning firearms. She comes from a country where her government doesn't afford their citizens the rights our country does (Japan), so she isn't too open-minded about the subject. If she were a bit more open-minded, I would've picked up a G19 for her as well (the worker at Sportsman's Warehouse where I bought it told me they had a shipment of consecutive serial numbers).

Took my Glock 19 and my Kimber to the range today. Mostly to sight in my Crimson Trace grips that I got for my Kimber, but also to try out the Glock.

Stopped off at Walmart to pick up some WWB (been stuck working midshift (2300-0700) so haven't had much time to load up some .45s). The first thing that struck me was how much cheaper the 9mm was than the .40s and .45s I had bought in the past (20 bucks a box, versus 30 for the bigger stuff).

My Kimber shot as well as it always has, leaving nice, ragged holes in the center mass of the silhouette target I got, with a few strays from the first few rounds when I was sighting in the laser (just a little sidenote, they don't always come from the factory dead-on, so they may or may not require minor adjustment) The Crimson Trace grips are now dead on (it sucked trying to find the little allen wrenches they provide when it was time to leave though...a wrench the size of a hair against the range table..which was covered with black carpet).

Then I loaded up the Glock. I was pleasantly surprised with the low recoil and accuracy with the follow-up shots that went with it. Everything pretty much stayed center of mass, with a couple of strays going into the right of the torso. Not a single hiccup with the 100 rounds I put through her either :D. I'll post pics of the targets tomorrow.

Ordered a blade-tech IWB holster earlier, and some extra mags from midway. The .22 kit will probably come with my next tax return :)
