The first time we saw this CO2 powered, select fire BB gun we were amazed! We said to ourselves that the Baikal factory had better be ready to make a lot of these. The DROZD is powered by a standard CO2 cartridge and four (AAA) batteries to give you the ultimate BB gun. There are three switches on the Drozd :

* The first powers up the electrical firing mechanism
* The second is for the selection of fire (1 = single shot, 2 = three round burst, 3 = six rounds burst)

Last time I looked, it went for about $200.00 .
Price might have dropped by now.
I know it's a BB gun and all, but for that price I could get an SKS and ammo. Or a Saiga in 7.62x39 and extra magazines.
Or a Ruger 10/22, etc.
Looks like it's fun though.
 
Spraying fire is fun to do if you've never done it.
Problem is, BB guns aren't real accurate or powerful, even as far as airguns are concerned.
And airgun makers and hobbyists have tried for a long, long time to build a system that would allow machine-gun style firing with pellets instead of BB's, and nobody's ever been able to do it very well. The best they can do is to use revolver-type cylinders that only hold 15-20 shots at the most.

I have often though that relaxing laws to allow owning full-auto 22LR guns easier and cheaper would take a lot of pressure off of people wanting full-auto guns in centerfire calibers--and a 22LR full-auto isn't real tactically useful anyway because the barrel starts to lead up after about 100 or so rapid-fire shots (as any teenager with a normal 10/22 and a few 30-round mags knows!).

Does anyone know what PSI the CO2 cartridges run at?

Was talking to one of the fellows at work, and we don't think it'd be too hard to make an adapter for it to run on an air compressor, if we can push enough gas...
 
IIRC CO2 carts are 450 psi

to constant air it its gonna need a bigger hopper than stock

the dood on the russian site above has modded his to 900rpm

How powerfull it shoots?
The power of all CO2 guns highly depended by the temperature of propellant. With T=20C drozd pumps out BB’s with initial speed 165-170m\s (approx 500fps). If it isn’t sound for you, just imagine: it enough for devastate glass bottles at distances up to 25 meters, easy penetrate through aluminum cans and one side of plastic bottles, remain heavy dings on solid metal objects and produce BIG yellow sparks in contact with concrete! In fact, drozd has firepower higher, than average CO2 BB gun.

I guarantee you'd need more than an air compressor to run it unless it has an internal reg and I doubt that.
 
One poster mentioned that a BB gun can't have much power...

Well, this one does. The owner of a local gun store was shooting a steel 55 gallon drum with one as a demonstration and the BBs were leaving DEEP dimples in the steel. I have no doubt that you could shoot through the wall of the drum if you could place several shots in a small enough area. Pretty cool. I wouldn't be shooting at a pet with one if you want the pet to live.:what:
 
heeeere kitty kitty kitty :evil: sudenly, the solution to "in the city limits" small annoying game, ie; coons, cats, dogs, possums, squirel, ect... , is now very clear...
 
CDNN has them for $169.

I wonder how difficult it would be to adapt a 3.5oz CO2 tank or HPA tank. It would give many more consistant shot per fill.
 
The CO2 holder is also the BB magazine. It would probably be tricky to do the mod to a different CO2 cartridge type without also reworking the magazine. That would be pretty difficult, IMO.
 
FWIW: I had a Crosman CO2 BB pistol for a while, model now forgotten. Looked kinda space-age, with form-fitting grips, and the CO2 went in the front, under the barrel. If you remove the right hand grip and trigger assembly cover, the 2nd or 3rd piece you come to is rectangular with a small square extension on top. Turn this piece over to put the square bit from the top right to the top left, and re-assemble the gun. It now shoots full auto at about 600 rpm. One cartredge is good for about 45 shots, and the magazine holds 30, so 2 or 3 short bursts, reload, and 1 or 2 more / cartredge.
I believe the gun retails for <$50 NIB.

Puts the fear of God into stray dogs checking out your trash cans at 200 ft.

IIRC, one of my friends contacted Daisy corp about the pressure, and was told that the cartredges have 900 psi gas over liquid CO2 at room temp. The paintball folks have a 1 pint (approx) tank that hangs on your belt.
 
Cooper-t products has a lot of stuff for making air systems, including a dummy 12 gram adaptor IIRC.

They have a website, i'm just too lazy to search for it.
