So I recently joined up with the Young Conservatives of Texas UTSA chapter. YCT is a state organization with chapters at around 10 major universities in the state.

The group is extremely well organized, extremely (to the point of absurdity) well-funded, and they are right on track with a lot of issues. As always, I cant support all their issues 100%, but they are good people.

I went to the state convention and it appears that they are also very influential in state politics. We had a lot of state Repub big-wigs talk to us and thank us for helping them get where they are.

Anyway, the group is inheriently pro-RKBA, but it is not on their list of "talking points" or their list of issues to lobby for in Austin this session. I aim to change that.

So my intention is to push for more RKBA initiatives in the UTSA chapter, and I could use some help. What I am basicaly looking for is getting a GOA, NRA, or TRA spokesman to visit my campus. To come speak to a (hopefully large) group of people about RKBA, the importance of it, what individuals can do to support it, etc etc in a professional and knowledgeable way. And then have a Q&A session afterwards (which can get pretty intense, as antis would invariably show up).

So who should I get to for this? Obviously the NRA would have the biggest name recognition. I hear lots of good things about the GOA, and dont know very much at all about the TRA. Do these groups have pros to do this sort of thing? Do they require payment? etc.

So I want opinions, THR! This is where you shine.

The Young Conservatives of Texas chapter near me is not very well respected. They're not much into gun rights as immigration, religion and the sorts. I don't recall many demonstrations by the YCT without having counter-protesters showing up as well. It may not be a bad idea to find an organization more focused on gun rights.

Quatin, may i ask what campus you are refering to? I hear the A&M one is kinda wierd...

Art, the students at my chapter all took to the RKBA issue very well. It is not a matter of convincing them. Its just a matter of saying "I can get so and so to come speak on campus if we sponsor him/her."

We are already planning a group trip the the range, and 70% of the member have their own guns to bring ^_^
