Was doing some cataloging & inventorying of our little collection today for insurance & BATFE purposes, and suddenly realized that I have purchased sixteen guns........ just since the end of March. Not sure if that's good or bad....but it sure is more than I had originally planned on.

Oh well, off to G/B now.......:D

Just realized the other day I have bought/traded into 3cons.sn colt 1911s/2 cons.sn Colt 1911railguns. One colt pre 70 comercial, One custom commander, One Kimber Grand Raptor, 5 different model BHPs. Several more cons.sn pistols three engraved pistols. I get brain cramps trying to list them all. Since I have been retired. I have shifted a lot of my acumulated firearms of 50 years around. D*m I better stop getting anymore until I can shoot some of the new ones I already have.

I've had this desease all of my life and it just keeps on getting worse.

I was on a twelve step program but I moved the safes closer together.

Cheers,

ts

Last winter a friend bought over a dozen milsurp rifles in excellent condition, including an Enfield #4/Mk2 in cosmoline, wrapped in the paper bag.

His skill with buying/selling stocks or bonds allows it, and he came from a regular 'blue-collar' TX family.

since oct 1st ive bought 2 marlin 795s as Christmas gifts, a ruger #1 light sporter as an anniversary gift to me wife, a browning superposed, and traded an extra 70 series gold cup for a t series bhp that came with some other goodies, but in the past i have gone on a blue streak buying when i could be the opportunist i am...

Not sure how many I've bought in a year, but the most in one day is 3.

In the past 4 years or so, I've owned 95 guns. The most I had at one time was 40. Right now I only have 8, and will eventually sell all but 2 or 3 if I ever get around to moving to AK like I've been planning.

A couple of years ago I walked into a local gun store and they informed me he was going out of business. Not, "I'm having a going out of business sale" or "I'm moving to a new location." He was quitting the business altogether, had already sold the building, and had to be out with everything sold and gone in just over two weeks.

I went home and told my wife who said "You're never going to find a deal like this again. Lets go." We went back and I bought so many guns........

I ran out of room on the first form and had to use the addendum. Did you know they make an addendum with nothing but blank lines on it? I didn't before that day. I forget the exact number of guns I bought but it was in the teens. I know that was the day I bought my Uberti rifle and pistol in 45LC. and the 12 gauge coach gun, and a couple of lever actions. I mean, how many would you buy all at once if they were going for wholesale cost for a few days only and you had the money free?

I bought other guns that year, but that one day was something I doubt I'll ever match. I drove by the shop about a week later and it closed up, cleaned out, and gone. Just like he said.

All in one fell swoop!

HERE'S MY BIGGIE!

Bought 10 pistols, 14 holsters, 7 magazines, and 4 sets of grips! This was a couple of auctions back up at RIA. They had ONE PISTOL I WANTED, but in order to win it I had to bid on the whole kit and kaboodle!

Ended up making a tidy profit AND WON the one I wanted. THIS old guy!

I don't remember exactly. I used to buy at shows and sell the same day. I didn't even record that I owned the gun back then if I decided to sell or trade the same day. It was fun. I had to take it home for me to "own" it. But I believe the most I have purchased in a single year was about 25 firearms; mostly Colt and S&W stuff.

I had not owned or had a firearm in the house for 32 years, since my brother borrowed my 1100 Remington 12 ga in 1979 and never returned it. Last Feb I decided to buy P239 and take up target shooting as a stress reliever for something to do during the rest of the winter. In the following 9 months I have purchased 6 more pistols and 2 rifles.

Timeline was as follows;
p239 in February
P238 in march
P250 in march
Ruger mkii .22 in march
Spikes AR15 march
P290 in April
SIG 1911 C3 .45 in November
AR10 in November
STI trojan 1911 9mm in November (just purchased today)

Adding in $1k for ammo this month, November has been very expensive. Winter sucks and for me shooting really helps the winter months pass.

This year in Review. Mossberg 500, 2 ARs, Ruger LCP and LC9, Turkish 1911, Berretta PX4, accessories for all, and enough reloading components to justify to the ATF why my boat was too heavy and sank in case they ever ask. And I only get 3 days off every 21 days. My computer tells me 15.2% of my expenses from my main checking account are firearms related, and that doesn't account for the month or two I got lazy and didn't categorize expenses as I entered them and Cash transactions..

My most hardcore (and stupidest) buying spree with guns has to have been between January 2009 and September 2009. In those 9 months, I must have bought close to 11 guns. Of course I was working back then and I never spent money on anything, so I could afford it, but now that I look back at that time, that money could have been saved for much more important things. Of the guns bought, however, I made good use of 4 of them, so I guess it wasn't all that bad. The rest of them were impulse buys, though.

I'm not currently trading arms, but I am buying a lot of camo. Help! I just Amazon ordered an alpenflage jacket, backpack, cap, and gloves. Even worse, I recently acquired of a set of olive drab fatigues. At least the boonie is a really nice hat for the rain.

My collecting skills have been polished lately not so much by the acquisition of firearms, but of tactical gear and accessories. Holsters, boots, pants, jackets, emergency survival stuff...

I even found a couple of nice second hand mil grade travel cases to sort everything out and organize the armoury. There's a great security in knowing your kit is squared away.
