handgun rounds:

.22LR for training (.22 conversion kit) and plinking

.380 for CCW backup

9mm for Main CCW (JHP's) and targets (ball)

Long guns:

12 ga. #4 buck is my "you really picked the wrong house" round

.30-30 is my "YAHOO! I'm a cowboy" round

7.62x39 is my SHTF and "TAKE THAT YOU MARAUDING BAND OF PAPER GOBLINS" round

Primary list
----------
.40 S&W - primary self defense and all-around work horse

.22LR - lots of cheap practice, fun for everyone

.38 Specials - the ladies in the family seem to prefer this

Secondary list
--------------
.45 ACP - my backup self defense round and probably most fun to target practice with

9mm - cheaper practice in my G23, and fun to parctice with the SA trigger of the BHP

.44 mag - because it RULES! (temporarily out of stock, but I have an eye out for another Redhawk or SRH Alaskan...)

If I only had to be concerned about myself (and not family or introducing newbies), not concerned with handgun size nor ammo capacity, and wanted to maximize the fun factor, then I could live with just a .44. But for everyday practicality I could do almost everything with the G23 in .40.

22 lr : training, hand thrown targets, small game,
9X19 : personal defence ,IDPA,
44 special : favorite cartrige- target shooting, personal defence
44 mag : hunting , personal defense will be my gun for steel rams at some point

I am fond of many other cartriges but the above are getting the work done just fine.

.40S&W
Primary Self Defense/CCW, IDPA, and use in USPSA for PF Divisions.

9mm
USPSA Production, and range use only.

10mm,
Night stand, hunting, and range use.

.22lr just for fun and lots of inexpensive shooting,
9mm cheaper handgun practice (rarely carry)
.40 everything from ccw, hd/sd weapons to cqb drills at the range.

9MM-Target, HD
38 spec.-target, CC, HD
.357 Mag-HD,Target

I've had lots of other calibers, but right now I'm selling a lot of my Semi-autos and buying revolvers.

.221 Fireball & .223 in a T/C Contender G2, just for the muzzle flash.

7.62X25 Tokarov in a CZ 52 for the noise.

7.5X55 Swiss , 7.62X39, 7.65X53 Arg, 7.62X54R, 8X57, .303 Brit or .30-40 Krag to fondle a milsurp.

Most of my shootng nowadays with all calibers is target practice but all of my guns are considered to be home defence guns, even the .22s
.22 Long Rifle, plinking and target. Occasionall squirrel hunt
.45 ACP mainly for carry but also 9MM and .38 Sp at given times.
.357 and .44 mags mostly downloads for indoor range but sometimes heavy hitters for woods carry.
.45 Colt also woods carry with regular loads but sometimes Ruger only, according to my mood on a given day.
Almost all of my reloads are Cast bullet loads.

I wish I had a big long list of calibers like the rest, but I only own two guns at the moment. :( Oh well, more are on their way eventually. My sickness is only at its early stage.

.22 LR/L/S/CB caps (bolt action tube-fed gun)-- plinking and targets. maybe small animals in the future.

9mm Luger-- plinking, targets, home defense. will be CCW once I take the class and get the license.

Calibers on the wish list: 12 gauge (i know, not a caliber), 357mag (and by default .38), .454 or .460, .308, and something off-the-wall crazy if I really get into it, for example .204 or something bigger like a .404 jeffrey. i'm a long way off from those, though.
