Your Choice In A 1911?

I currently have a Springer 5" SS 'loaded', a couple/three Kimbers, a Colt Commander, a ParaOrd alloy singlestack, and a Dan Wesson PM3. Over the years, I've bought-n-sold at least another half dozen Kimbers and Springers and Colts, and played with both Sig and S&W rental 1911's at length.

Of all of them, my first choice for a defensive pistol would be a 5" Springer stainless loaded model. It's closest to the original 1911A1 pattern (no firing pin safety goombah) and it is very affordable. A good yeoman pistol without too much farkles, at a street price right around $725.

By far Springfield Armory. Sig's 1911 is just fugly and has an external extractor like the S&W. I just don't see them as real 1911's.

Have owned several 1911's... some have not passed the battery test of the riggers of an IPSC match. I currently carry a Springfield GI and just for giggles I shoot my brothers Kimber Gold Cup in .40 S&W.
