How does firearms relate to your money? You dont have to answer any of these questions directly, theyre just some questions to help you get the idea of what im asking.

1. Do you constantly find some new accessory/modification to waste your money on?
2. Do you use all availiable extra money to save up for your next firearm?
3. Does feeding your toys (ammo) set you back money on going out to eat?
4. Do you MAKE money from the services you provide for others in firearms related services?
etc, etc, etc.

Personally, I only buy firearms at very good prices. I think of them as an investment. I can buy a pistol or rifle and keep it and shoot it. When in need of cash i can always resell for at least what i got it for. They only real cost is some ammo/range costs. Firearms really havent set me back any money, in any case it's more like a savings account for me :).

Some people smoke, some drink, others gamble.....it's all about priorities. Since I do none of the previously mentioned, the collection continues to grow.

I drink in moderation, I don't use tobacco, I rarely eat out, my Girlfriend (of more that 15 years) doesn't like me spending my money on her... (whatta gal, eh?) and I have a great job...

so, I pretty much use my disposable income on things like classic Musclecars and firearms...

>1. Do you constantly find some new accessory/modification to waste your money
>on?

No. Other than adding a scope to a rifle, I rarely modify a firearm from it's stock configuration. Shootin' em how they came from the factory is plenty fine with me.

>2. Do you use all availiable extra money to save up for your next firearm?

Not all of it, but a fair chunk of it.

>3. Does feeding your toys (ammo) set you back money on going out to eat?

Sure. Shooting is my hobby and a hobby, by definition, is something you spend irrational amounts of money on.

>4. Do you MAKE money from the services you provide for others in firearms
>related services?

I wish...

1. Sometimes.
2. Nope.
3. Never.
4. I wish I could.

Own a couple of pawn shops. My wife says that I need a seperate warehouse. I just tell her that she will be in for a hell of inheritance. Glad she likes firearms and firearms accessories as well.

I splurged when I was first building my collection to cover all the needed niches*, spending almost all my disposable income on them over about 2 years.

Nowadays I only buy when a really good deal falls in my lap. Deals such as the norinco 1911 for $250, or the glock 17L that still had the factory copper grease for $580 out the door.

Of course, I'm still discovering new niches that need filling. Currently, I think I now need a Sport Utility Rifle in .308.

*:

-.22 rifles and pistols for cheap plinking and teaching newbies
-his and hers nice semiauto clays guns
-carry guns - hicap midsize 9mm for trips to detroit, small 9mm single stack for summer IWB, .380 mousegun for pocket
-Sport Ultility Rifle
-HD pump shotty

Don't drink, smoke or gamble, hardly ever eat out. The only other big drain on finances is 3 teenagers.

I was having a discussion with a co-worker the other day about hobbies. We decided we both had too many interests for the amount of money available. I do prioritize my purchases among all my interests.

Kids are done with college and all married. Mortgage paid off. I budget what I used to pay for my mortgage as mad money for guns and impulse buys. Life is good.

Congrats! Thats what everyone strives for. I hope to be there myself one day.

Ok, you must know something I don't. How do you have a girlfriend for 15 years that doesn't make you marry her, or want you to spend money on her?

Sorry about the thread drift... but this secret is much more important!

1. Pretty much
2. A large portion
3. No
4. No - freebies - minor things

After paying the bills I spend all my money on guns and usually a little extra. Life is flying by so I try to balance the experiences I wish to have with a level of debt I'm comfortable with. My gun bill fluctuates throughout the years. I dont want to wait untill I'm too old to enjoy the guns I'm intrested in now so I use credit. I didnt use to but about 5 years ago I decided it WAS that important to me.

Priorities!
That said, I have made an impulse buy or two or three...

I have found that the best firearms are the used ones. None of the new ones seem's to appeal to me. Almost none of the new firearms being produced seem's worth the money to me.

There is only a couple of Rifles that I would still like to own but don't.
I don't loose any sleep over it because I don't have anyone to leave them to when I die anyways.

Every now and again I come acrosed something of interest. The only one I could kick myself over was a Winchester Model 88 / 308 that I owned that was serial number 6_9.

I bought it from a friend that needed money really bad for $250.00 and sold it to a complete stranger for $500 out of greed. I didn't like Winchesters or Model 88's then and thought the money could be better spent on other things.

The person that bought it, sold it two years later for $750 and that person sold it for even more than that. The gun was in MINT Condition.

A M1 Garand that was on the gun rack for $550 - National Match Grade, I didn't have the $550.00 at that time..
A Browning Auto Rifle in .300 Win Mag that I didn't buy for $750, the best part was it had a UNERTL scope on it.
The reason I didn't buy it was because I didn't know what it was worth and you cannot use them for hunting in Pennsylvania.

Those are the only guns that I could kick myself for not buying.

Very Simple

I work in a "high profile" MOM & POP Sporting Goods Store/ Gunshop. I get
very reasonable prices on anything that I wish to purchase. The owners
are very nice, fair, and considerate persons that allow employee accounts. If it were not for that; I would NEVER have been able too afford half of what
I got~! So, I'm always indebted to my employers- by the time I get one
firearm (or piece of equipment) paid off; I re-up, by purchasing another
one. Funny thing, I don't see any end in sight- so I guess I will keep my
account current.:D :D :D

buy whatever i like and can afford.

buy ammo by the 1000s since prices are only going up. ill end up using it anyway.

its money in the bank

When in need of cash i can always resell for at least what i got it for.

Really. How many guns have you sold that were less than 5 years old and broke even?

I buy when and what I can afford it. Everything else comes first for the most part. If money's tight; no guns, no ammo, no anything other than the necessities. My life does not revolve around whether or not I can buy the next firearm that I have a craving for.

I have no problems selling my outcast guns for what or more than what I paid.

You just have to know a few people.

Guns I have sold for what I paid or more than.

Walther PPK
Glock 22
Walther PP
HiPoint carbine
Savage .22 rifle
NAA mini-revolver
Zastava model 70
Remingin 870

For what smoking cost me I can now buy a gun a year.

I buy one on Sarah Brady's birthday to celebrate freedom.

Yes it's to celebrate freedom and not her cancer.

A gun a year. Every year. Giggling all the way.

I quit smoking and am free.

"Waste" money on accessories? No more than I waste money buying accessories for my kids/ home/ girlfriend/ car. The bills come 1st. then the retirement account, then the toys.

Money is a factor in everything, life in general.
When it comes to my gun its no different. I have a buddy that spends all his time and money on crap for his car which in the end normally lowers the cars value. I can't justify buying a $200 or $300 laser when i got a flea market special for 5 bucks from a friend. I mean a Crimson Trace laser for a Glock is a little piece of plastic that couldn't have been more than a couple of bucks to make. I'm not doubting it's quality or effectiveness but I am doubting its practicality. I wont ever buy a 50 or 60 dollar holster when i got hand me downs; bargain bins; and knock-offs. Top shelf ammo, nope this cheap stuff kills people too. In truth I'm just a hater. Now if i had the money would i buy some of these thing, Yes and No. In my beliefs regardless of if its in my price range or not if I believe it's over priced it's over priced.

It sucks being broke.
