YOUR IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED!

This weekend, while most of the members of the Illinois General Assembly were trying to fix the state's budget, Chicago Mayor Daley and his pals in the legislature were busy trying to take your guns away from you.

They hastily drafted SB3383 - Illinois Assault Weapons Ban - and tried to sneak it through while everyone was paying attention to the budget crisis.

Right now, SB3383 is still at the committee level, you have to make sure it gets no further.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO SAVE YOUR GUNS...

1. Call your state Senator TODAY and politely inform him or her that you OPPOSE SB3383 and any other gun ban. Politely ask him or her to VOTE AGAINST SB3383 if it comes to their committee or the floor of the Senate. If you do not know who your state Senator is, go to this link: http://www.legis.state.il.us/ and then click "Legislator Lookup" in the lower right hand side of that page. Follow the instructions on that page.

2. Pass this message on to all your gun owning friends.

3. Please post this alert to any and all Internet bulletin boards to which you may belong.

Done and called too

I wrote and called my State Senator and Rep.

They must be getting sick of me calling about this, but I am becoming both a familiar name and voice on gun related issues. The one thing I can count on is that they are sicker of Daley and his gun control and out of control spending habits.

Daley got caught with his hand in the cookie jar on the "trucks for hire" scandal for around $40 million and now, instead of laying low for awhile, demands a Chicago owned casino somewhere in the loop that would handle hundreds of milliona every week. Talk about turning the henhouse over to the fox to run! Sheeesh!

According to the staffers I talked to, he was counting on getting this, and a lot of other crap, through in the middle of the night as part of a last minute budget compromise. But now , since the Dem's couldn't get their act together and pass a budget with a simple majority, they have to pass it with a 2/3 majority. That means they must have Republican cooperation to get anything through.

I'm hopeful, but still watching very closely.
 
Please call these TWO Senators

I called two of the 3 Dems on the committee; Sen. Cullerton 217-782-7260, and Senator Viverito at 217-782-0054.

Illinoians, please call and OPPSE SB 3383 . Especially call Sen. cullerton who sponsored the bill.
 
Calls made. The Speaker of the House, Michael Madigan, has sent the rank and file members home until the leaders can come up with a budget deal. Looks like anything happening in the house is a dead issue for right now.

Probably should put these guys on speed dial I have called them so much this year. Dan Rutherford is my rep, he actually took the time to write a letter back to me that he will never support anything that Daley wants or anyone else for that matter when it comes to gun control.

Somebody nominate this guy for Governor in the next go round PLEASE!!!!!

I think it is going to come down to party line vote in committee, there is no changing Cullertons' mind on this one. I am pretty sure that Petka and Roskam will oppose the bill, not sure about Viverito and I believe that Hendon is a Chicago Demorat so you know where that leaves us.
