If you have to take one shot, and only one shot with a reasonable amount of time to aim at a target, what handgun would you use? I was thinking the other day that if I had to take one shot at a target or on the range, my most accurate rifle is my dad's old Remington 700 in 30-06. I don't know why but I have always been really good(or lucky) with that rifle. I have a lot of pistols from 17 cal on up. I target shoot, plink, and I've gone hunting with the larger ones, but I don't have that "special" pistol. And no, I'm not talking about in terms of reliability or self defense, just target or hunting.

they are all the same for me, I tend to think its the shooter not the gun. I guess from more than 25 yards i would choose my para p14 Gun Rights model. If its within 25yrds then they are all same.

here is a pic, thats from when I first got it, it now how MMC blue rear and green front night sights

*waits for someone with a savage striker to chime in*

I have an EAA Witness Elite Match 10mm, guess I'll stick with that.

"One shot and a reasonable amount of time."

Thompson Contender, hands down.

Pick your caliber and your barrel.

My HK USP Elite .45acp. a very accurate pistol. True story; The very first time I shot this pistol, I ran the target down about 20 yards. The first shot hit absolutely dead center. I stared, I smiled, I said "OMG!" Now I can't claim to do that every shot...I don't, but when I don't it's my fault, not the pistol's.

for accuracy in a pistol, it is going to be hard to beat a ruger mark III... shoots groups like a rifle at 25 yards... any error is your error. not the best for self defense, but it will outshoot any .45, 9mm, .40, 10mm or anything else.. it is what it is built to do.. cannot beat it for accuracy.

I stick 6 rounds of wadcutters ahead of Bullseye in my 6" Colt Trooper MkIII and the thing's deliciously accurate.

Hard to argue much with that statement. I just assumed the OP was asking about a handgun we actually owned; I don't have a Ruger MkIII, but my shootin' pard's, with its Pac-Lite barrel would shoot a gnat off the hind end of model of 1905's target wasp! :D

My XD-40 will punch one ragged hole all day long, from 20 yards.:) I shoot my reloads and I must be doing a good job, because they are accurate.:D

One shot? I'll take my Freedom Arms Model 97 .357, although my new Les Baer .38 Super has me questioning that after todays shooting at the 50 yard line.
