Every time I do an Internet search on a firearm, invariably Google will return a video of some yokel shooting said firearm. Usually, the more exotic the firearm, the crazier the video will be (try "Desert Eagle .50"). Of course, I have to watch them (duh!); not doing so would be so un-American. :)

It's shocking that these ding-dongs don't get shot or killed with their own firearms. Safety and good sense seem to go straight out the window. My concern is that non-experienced shooters will go the infallible Internet to "lurn about dem guns" from YouTube and Google videos. :banghead:

There's not much we can do about it, I suppose, other than to spread the gospel about local shooting classes, promote safety wherever possible, and lead by example.

There are definitely some guys who don't obey gun safety rules. With that said, It has no bearing on how I handle a gun. Maybe it does on others?

some vids on youtube are helpful and some make gun owners look really bad. i dunno if the good out .lbs the bad, but i have found some useful things on there.

NoleMan -- I would say that you are an experienced shooter and would not fall prey to this video idiocy, but think of those that don't know anything about firearms and turn to the Net-Sitter for "education".

True, and I do look at those good videos as well (and learn a lot from them). But most young, impressionable minds look for the shock factor alone. There's a dearth of shooting classes where I live, so I hear many new shooters talk about what they can learn from Mama Net...

The other ones that drive me nuts are the "Oh ho, let's give this girl who's never shot a gun in her life my .44 mag/.500 S&W/.50 AE and see what happens!"

And nutnfancy is kind of an odd duck. I started ignoring him when I saw the first post of him reviewing a gun he has not fired.

i really enjoyed the one where they figured out bulletproof really means resistant when you shoot a 9mm from 5 feet.

cute little hole seemed to baffle them while they waited for their darwin award to get there.

i think most people have a instinct of the danger of firearms and will learn the basics and the morons will always do dumb things, natural selection isnt a bad thing!

There are some good ones on youtube. I used youtube to figure out how to take down every gun I own the first time I did it. There's nothing better than watching someone else doing it, and doing the exact same thing at the same time :p

I've also posted one on there of my 11 year old nephew shooting our SR9. 9mm is a very good caliber for his age :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlmDdwmQMXE

I do agree that there are a fair share of morons with guns on there, though. I love all the ones where people smack themselves in the forehead, or fall on their butt from improper stance. I use these as demonstrations of "what not to do" before I take friends/family to the range.

I like the videos which show you how to field strip or detail strip a weapon. I get the most use out of those when I buy a new gun and I don't want to "figure it out." I mainly don't want to break something and I would rather have some idea of what I am doing.

As far as the fools on there shooting guns, I watch that for entertainment only. It is also cruel to give your 18 y/o girlfriend a .50 cal snubbie for her first gun to shoot and laugh at her when she is trying to pull the front sight out of her forehead. That is just mean.

ghoster,

I remember that video. I guess we know what cool is now. Get shot in the chest with a 9mm and have a smoke while the blood drips down your belly and you cough up blood. That guy is the next Clint Eastwood...not

Anyone else think Nutnfancy is full of crap?

Some of his gun reviews are pretty good IMO, but he rambles on too much and I've noticed as his ego has gotten bigger his videos have got worse. He loves the sound of his own voice. A 30 minute video of his may have 5 minutes of good information.
