Hello all, I'm a newbie so please bear with me.

Can anyone tell me the best way to get rust off a revolver. I tried my Dreamal with a buffing pad, didn't help much.

The rust is just surface I believe from wearing it against my back with no tee shirt... But still looks nasty..

Thanks in advance for any help...

Hmmmmmm

A very high grade gun oil, or penetrating oil, and some of the finest grade (0000) steel wool you can find. Load up the steel wool with oil, polish very gently, particularly if a 'blue steel' gun.

The futher you can keep that dremel away from your gun the better you will be.

Other wise what foghornl said is good advice.

Fine brass wool, available at most hardware stores, and a light penetrating oil.

I used this on a rusted rifle and where needed, used oxpho cold blue after cleaning the oil off with alcohol and then oiling as I normally would to preserve the finish - you can't tell it was ever rusted and the finish is excellent.

Ok Guys the Dremel is back in the box and I promise not to bring it back out for gun cleaning.

I'll try that steel wool and gun oil and let you know how it works.

Thanks again for the infro.

Good deal! A dremel may be good for some things but gunsmithing ain't one of them.
Good luck.
