I have around 700 rounds of this stuff and just started wondering what type of bullet this round has? I know the yugo m67 7.62x39 has a hollow cavity, but is the 8mm just a simple ball cartridge? Or does it also have something special to it to help it be more effective?

Bullet type and weights can vary. Most 8x57 I have seen is either a 196 grain FMJ SP BT or the same design in 154 grain weight.

I think I have some Yugo ammo and I recall it is the latter.

Do you mean the 7.92X57 Mauser?

If so here are some pic. of the 198gr, FMJ Boat Tail, Yugo, Corrosive, Brass Case, Copper Jacket, Lead Core.

Bullet Length...1.326"
Jacket Thickness....030" Nominal
Weight...197.5 grain Nominal

The diameter of 30 sampled bullets varied between .319" and .323"

U.M. brought up an important point. Most likely what you've got is a load of older military surplus ammo, so you should treat it as corrosive. Wash out the barrel with hot/boiling water after each shooting session to remove the water soluble salts that corrosive ammo leaves.
