My AK is a yugo ab70 century arms, I love it, it's never gave me problems but I heard a guy on youtube say the AB70s built by CIA are "hack jobs"

why would he say that? :barf::confused::barf:

(side note: I've only put about 300 rounds thru mine so far)

The Yugo is a good AK kit so there is little that anyone can do to make it bad. Many people do say that Century Arms makes a bad product but I, myself, haven't see that. I also have a Yugo AK made by them.

Century has literally gambled on safety with some of the firearms it's offered in the past.

Grinding parts so that they measure in the "go" range is never a good strategy (these were not AKs).

I've seen a TON of crappy Century builds at gun stores and shows. That being said, I own two of their yugo builds now (ditto Nugilum), and love them. From what I've seen, these are the exception to the rule.

Now see, there is your problem. Getting firearm advice off youtube is like asking the ATF for tips on ethical law enforcement.

Hi All, Recently bought a century Yugo fixed and uf (because I could and they are getting harder to find). Both had straight sights and actually looked good for kit guns. The fixed works like a champ. The uf has a problem and is on its way back to century. Talking to the service rep was quick and easy. We will see what I get back. My experience so far. Good luck:)

i think what you mean is "M70AB1" and they are called "hack jobs" in the sence that every single part is serial numbered a few thousand to several hundred thousand apart from one another on all four that i own. that says nothing at all for the quality or reliability of the end product (gun itself) though. All of mine have been perfect.

Except for the front sight being slightly canted mine has been perfect,no FTF or FTE in over 1000rounds.Once i adjusted the front sight post as far as it would go to the right side it's been a pretty accurate rifle for a kalashnikov, it will cut 2" holes in a target with 30 rounds at 50 yards from bench rest, at 100 yards i've been able get 30 rounds into a 5'' shoot-n-see target, not bad for for being assembled by "trained monkeys"

Got two of 'em, both are good.

I don't believe Century actually built these rifles, job was contracted out.

As far as I know, Century doesn't build any rifles these days, if I'm wrong someone please correct me.

Could it be one of the "Yugo" UF being sold by SOG? These have Romanian recievers and a Yugo UF stock. This would make sense as I heard a while back that the Yugo kits were pretty much dried up, So if there are some odd parts (UF stocks), I could see CIA still churning out a faux "Yugo UF".

WASR underfolders are now available. If is has a Romanian receiver, that is probably what you are looking at.
