Yugo SKS: Bayonet + Grenade Launcher = Head Scratching?

Once the tax returns make it in, I’m going to try to earmark $500 or so to C&R fun (the rest goes to various home improvements).

First to order will be the Swiss K31 and the Yugo SKS.

One thing that's been bugging me since I first saw the Yugo SKS... how in the world can you affix the bayonet with that grenade launcher covering the muzzle like that. Before I removed a goofy muzzle brake from my Chinese SKS, I was unable to fold the spike bayonet into position. Just how does the Yugo SKS get around this (or does it)?

There is a little ring under the launcher that the top of the bayo clips onto when it is unfolded (in addition to a notch on the hinge to lock onto).

Yeah, unlike other SKSs, the Yugo does not slip over the muzzle. Instead, it has a little hook that slips into a ring just behind the grenade launcher/brake. Pretty neat, really.

You would line up one of the boxes(depending on the range marked on it) with the tip of the grenade. These things are "lobbed" in a very high arc.

I picked up a yugo at a local show for $150, but it was one of the supposedly unissued ones. It shoots great, didn't have time to shoot for a group or anything, but the extra weight from the bayo and the grenade launcher really help steady it down.

lets see, the bayonet for letter opening, the grenade launcher for the neighbors cat, now we're getting somewhere.

Actually, I believe you line up one of the range marks with the outside diameter, or "ogive" of the grenade.

Thanks for the clarification... I was fairly certain they had a method to use the bayonet with the grenade launcher installed.
