So I finally (two months later) got around to checking on one of the $69 yugo SKS' I bought from AIM a while back. The gun wasn't functioning in semi-auto so I let it sit figuring it was just a cosmo clogged gas tube and piston. Well I finally get it stripped down and what do I find or rather not find. The gun is missing the gas piston extension and spring! So umm anyone know where I can get a decent replacement?

Check with the sks boards/ www.sksboards.com , GOOD LUCK , and make sure you clean the bolt and firing pin. Also they have the complete procedure to break it down all the way to get all the cosmo out.

Poesraven: Done and Done, I already had an SKS so take down for cleaning wasn't a problem. Missing parts though tend to be a problem. Just wanted to find out where people go for their SKS part needs.

jefnvk: Thanks for reminding me about Numrich always seem to forget about them for some reason.

I have on of the same specials, I have all my parts but I still have a single shot SKS still. Though cleaning the chamber made it almost get the next round loaded, I have some more work to do...

My Yugo won't cycle if...

I've got the gas shut-off valve in the up position. The valve should be off to the side, holding the grenade sight down for the rifle to function in semi-auto.

It'll be cheaper from TAPCO. 'Sides, it's probably as good a time to start on the compliance parts as any.

I had the same problem - missing op-rod, and its spring. I got them from TAPCO (US made ones.) It works fine.
