Posted this on TFL a few days ago, but no one has figured it out yet. The question is from my younger brother.

"Got a question. I just bought a Bosnaian Issued Yugo SKS.
My question is the gun came with a string about six foot long with a lead weight on each end and a loop made in the middle. The weights are too big to go down the barrel so what purposes does the string serve?"

Haven't seen one of these, so can anyone help us out?

Thanks,
Ken

Sounds like it is unrealted to the gun. Perhaps came from a gun rack and was used to string the guns together to prevent easy theft, like at the gun shows?

OR

use it as a weapon like Sampson and Goliath?

OR

It is the Yugo Navy version of the SKS and it is used as part of the shot line?

Thanks. Tried posting to the SKS board, but for some reason after registering, I got a message that information was missing from the post. I'll try again after I get back from my trip.

Ken :(
