Hi. As a Zastava M70A enthusiast I was worried about the scarcity of magazines for this handgun.

Searching in the web I found a thread in the Highroad forum about modifying Walther P38 and P1 magazines. I am really thankful for that thread as it opens the possibility of alleviating this situation.
On the thread, it was mentioned that there was a small gunshop somewhere that was offering these P38 magazines already modified to be used in the M70A.

Hope someone can offer that information. Thanks!

Calaca.

Glad you enjoy yours, my M70A was unsafe and totally unreliable out of the box. It developed a serious issue where the hammer would still drop when the safety was turned on. It was a rough and undependable things for sure. Are you getting paid by Zastava to promote them?

I checked Ebay for M70a magazine. There are two sellers with original factory mags, one for $100 and one for $90. Both have free shipping. That seems kind of steep for what I think of as a cheap gun, but it's probably better (and cheaper?) than fooling around with converted P-38 mags. HTH!

I wish I would have hung on to my M70A mags, I bought several when they were cheap. Pretty silly to spend so much on magazines for a $199 pistol.

I've successfully filed out magazine stop holes using Promag P38 magazines for use in both my Zasatava M70A and my Beretta Model 1951. Both are range guns, so a perfect fit (they extend beyond the grip in both cases) or perfect reliability (although they have functioned perfectly for me at the range) aren't a necessity. It's been an inexpensive way to get some extra mags for a couple of "fun guns".

Use your original mag to take measurements, measure carefully on the new magazine, tape off the area to mark the work area, and file or dremel slowly. It's not that hard to do.
