Zipper at the bottom. Rifle cases.

A rifle case with it's zipper at the bottom and handles at the top is not a good design!

The gun will go to the bottom of the case and it's trigger guard or lever will hit the zipper and be damaged.

looks more like a sling to me. designed to be thrown over your shoulder vertically, so 'down' would be towards the muzzle.

Yeah, I agree with the sling concept, probably by design, but I think Savage99 has a point because the gun won't be universally carried that way and so will be carried zipper side down.

Aside from the rubbing, the problem I see is that the zipper is the weak point and so will be most prone to fail with possible subsequent dropping of the rifle from the case as a result, if not carried muzzle down.

I have a bunch of these cases and find them ideal for transporting long guns. The interior of the zipper that would contact your trigger guard is a fabric facing, and the zipper itself is nylon. It's not going to scratch.

The carry sling can be adjusted to serve as a shoulder sling or a carry handle; both ways work just fine. And these zippers are tough! The odds of a zipper failure that would allow the rifle to fallout are zip point naught. You have a far greater chance of having it fall out because you forgot to zip it.

I have a couple of those. The older Boyt ones do have metal zippers, so I put the gun in a sock first. The fabric that's supposed to cover the zipper on the inside can get bent over or twisted around, so I'm playing it safe.

I agree that the zippers are tough: some of the toughest of seen. You'd have to try pretty hard to break one.
