If its anything like my Cobra .38 derringer you'll need to be inside 5 yards of the target to hit it at all.

My FIL has a Texas Defender .22 LR made by Bond Arms and it's a $400 hunk of junk. Been back to the factory twice and I'm still not even sure it shoots properly. He bought it at Cabelas

Not true, I managed to hit a 25 yard target with a Buffalo Bore wadcutter (OUCH!) with my FIE .38 Special derringer.

Thebigar2003: There's something about derringers that have been attractive to me, I was dying for one but I really didn't feel like spending $200 on one (gun shop prices are ridiculous sometimes). So I checked out gun shows and found a broken one for $100, talked him down to $70. Bottom barrel wouldn't work, top one was fine. Got a new hammer assembly from Numrich and a new hammer selector spring from Cobra Arms and it's been kickin' ever since.

cobra enterprises makes them...i have a big bore 9mm and a standard in 22lr and mag....i don't shoot them much, mostly use them for molding holsters...gary [hey pyro...merry christmas]

I saw a neat Derringer made by Uberti many years back that was blued/case hardened, and in .45 Colt. Wish I had bought it. It really looked nice.

I have a Cobra in .38 Special and like said above that is the same company who makes them for Cimarron. Unlike some reports they can be accurate if you find a way to overcome the extremely heavy trigger. In 38 it has a fairly stout recoil. In 22 it's not bad at all.

Having had the chance to shoot a few derringers over the past couple of years I'd say yes, they CAN be decently accurate for the barrel that the sights are regulated for. However the OTHER barrel is a whole other can of worms ! ! ! ! The amount of holdunder for shooting the upper bore is totally wild if you want to hit anything with a center fire derringer! ! !

Three of us shot the last one I got to shoot. At only 4 yards away the first shots for all of us were all in the 12 inch round disc of cardboard we were aiming for. The second shot for all of us hit about a foot and a half high other than the last guy who aimed about a foot and a bit low and only just grazed the upper edge of the cardboard disc. The gun was chambered in .38Spl and we were shooting it with regular power reloads.

So all in all they can be great fun as a range toy. But for anything more distant than the other side of a card table and I'd have to say that they really aren't that useful.
