I was just wondering how many folks on here are members at MRA in Woburn that would have in interest in a Zombie Shoot for range members and their guest(s)?

I've been taking polls and looking for feedback and support - which, if strong enough, then I will present the event to the MRA board.

Thanks for your thoughts!

I suggest you look up "T Zone" and adjust your target size & location.

You need to learn where real CNS headshots need to be placed, and not from movies.

I just looked at your targets, the blue target circle is incorrectly located. They are too high-up on the head for real brain "kills".

It would be a mistake to train using those targets, whether zombies or living targets.

Hey Z.O., like I said on NES, if you pull it off I'm in, but I'd run it by the board before you start advertising...

Hey thanks for all the feedback everyone - it's really appreciated. Some of you gave recommendations on targets - some of you asked what a zombie shoot was.

A zombie shoot is a novelty shoot where targets in the form of zombie's (reanimated corpses) are shot, usually in the cranial region. In most popular zombie culture head-shots are the only way to kill zombies...like a stake in heart for vampires.

So it's a fun way to blow off steam using "out of the norm" targets.

Secondly regarding target placement and training. Most people train on circular targets or silouettes. In my opinion any target that bumps up that realism a notch is a training aid. Though I definitely feel (for me) it's more important to train good consistently from the body's natural defensive response than what target I'm shooting at. However a good realistic representation in size (scale) and color detail has been useful.

To get scale we measure our own heads - ear to ear and brow to chin. So yeah, they are realistically scaled for the most part. Everyone is different so you can only represent an average.

Regarding targeting. Firearms are religion for most of us - everyone has their own beliefs, obviously based around facts and physiology. The t-zone runs across the brow and down to roughly the middle of the mouth or top row of teeth. It's about 2 fingers wide depending on the individual so yeah it's a small kill-zone in all gruesome reality. In my education I understand lethal trauma to this zone will knock out the most primal system of the brain (stem) and would render a target "limp" instantly. Where shots outside of that area could be non-lethal and illicit several other reactions from body in response to the trauma.

We feel our targets correctly target at least 80% of the t-zone as well as provide a larger bull area for general grouping practice. Either way you slice it - they are far more fun to shoot than a black rectangle shaped like a "head". :D

That said, thanks for ALL the feedback and constructive input!

I'll advertise officially if we can get something approved!
