CCW with NAA Mini-Revolver Holster Grip?

MCgunner has lots of experience carrying and shooting with a holster grip, I'm sure he will be along soon responding to the OP's specific question.

I prefer to pocket carry my .22 mag NAA mini in a Grandfather Oak Pocket Companion kydex holster. I have a set of boot grips on my NAA that allows me to get two fingers on it while shooting but still makes it very easy to carry.

i bought my NAA with the folding grip...it now has boot grips and a shirt pocket holster....want to buy a used grip?.....gary

I carry my also gun folded in the weak side pocket. I just grab it in the pocket while cracking the grip open with a finger and pull it the rest of the way open on the draw. Similarly, I put my .22 mag Black Widow in my blackhawk number 4 pocket holster, same one that's containing my Kel Tec P11 now, and set it in there muzzle down folded. The holster keeps it muzzle down and I can then grab it by the grip and flip it open on the pocket as I withdraw it. It works for me, but then, I've taken the time to practice it.

Another feature I like of the holster grip is the belt clip. When I'm wade fishing, I can clip the black widow to the top of my t shirt and keep it out of the water. Any other carry would get dunked.

Suit yourself. I bought my Black Widow because it had the holster grip. The price was a little steep, but reasonable considering the holster grip is another 35 bucks. I have the boot grip it came with....sitting in the box. The holster grip is much more versatile for me and easy to draw quickly from a pocket with proper technique.

To my knowledge, they only discontinued the old style grip like's on my 25 year old daily carry .22 model. The new ones are pictured on my super companion and black widow.

You're meant to carry it the exact same way as you carry a folding knife with a pocket clip. And draw and deploy it the exact same way too, except you're unfolding a gun, rather than a blade.

My response was sarcasm, because I don't believe they did, and if the implication was that they were discontinued because of poor sales or lack of use, these seem to sell extremely well. Maybe he's thinking of the Ranger, which never went into normal production?

Have you ever tried to grip and fire an NAA mini with the standard parrot's beak grip? I can't get a good finger around those things. I put the folding grip on, I can withdraw it rapidly the way I carry it and it takes up little more room in my pocket than the standard gun, yet flips out for use, has a FULL grip. I can accurately place shots with the full grip. I can't shoot one with the standard grip. It allows compactness, yet a full grip on the gun. That's the REASON for it.

Once you've practiced with it, you will understand 1) how compact it is and 2) how rapidly you can deploy the gun and 3) how well you can shoot it with a decent grip on it.

I haven't tried the holster grip, I've got a Mini Master that's too large for it. I have the standard large rubbery grip and I intend to use a shoulder holster. If I had a smaller one, I wouldn't hesitate to use the grip holster, though.
