What kind of light do you use for your safe?

I use the light in the room it's in ... so I guess I'll be the first to ask, what is the specific purpose of a light in a safe?

Nushif, my man cave was constructed to prevent ambient light or any light for that matter from washing out my large screen front projection TV. The safe fitted in a corner at that end. The floods can be pointed in the desirable direction. Could have put a light in the safe but IMHO, it is difficult to see with glare in the face rather than strong light from behind.

When ya get really old, like me, the old eyes need all the help they can get. Plus, I just think they look better lit up from the inside. Part of the enjoyment I get from my hobby is just looking at all the cool stuff, and I can see it better when it's illuminated.

The lights are from Lowe's. 5 of them. None in the rifle bay though.

Here's a look at the bottom of the shelves.

There's an outlet strip mounted on the center divider near the back.

And this is the switch. It controls the outlet strip.

All cords were cut to the proper length so there's no little coils of cord hanging around in there. The only wiring that is readily visible is the part above the outlet strip.

Very nice, Bottomshelf! And if you don't mind my asking, how do you keep your pistols organized so neatly on the top shelf? There doesn't appear to be a rack.

It's just a piece of scrap sheet metal I cut and then painted black. It's shiny because I stuck some clear laminating plastic on it. Since the guns sit on it with their rear sight, I was afraid the paint would stick to the sights without covering it with something.

The metal is L shaped because the revolver on the end is mighty long.
