I've been thinking of AIWB carry (really more of a crossdraw at 10:00 to 10:30, or in front of my right hip at 2:00-2:30), as I feel my gun will be more accessible in a greater variety of situations than the 4:00 position I use now. It is fine while standing or walking, but sitting or...
For those in or around the Tri-Cities in NE TN, there is a show this weekend in Kingsport. I don't have any more money for guns :banghead: but just went up there to kill some time. It was a pretty good show, with lots of guns and ammo and comparatively little crap. I saw a couple of...
I picked one up Sunday the 27th, from a Jonesborough dealer at the Knoxville gun show, and took it this evening to the range http://myshootersedge.com (also new to me) to try it out. With some caveats which I will get to later, I am pleased with it.
This gun is sized and priced to compete...
This happened c. 2006 or 2007 and is what is left of an "old model," unmolested Ruger Super Blackhawk, manufactured c. 1966, that belonged to my brother, after a faulty handload did it in. :what: The friend of his who loaded the cartridge is an experienced handloader, but clearly something...
In 2007, a retired Marine with a concealed handgun permit got into a shootout with two robbers in a sandwich shop. He complied with their initial demands and gave up his money, but when they ordered him and the store personnel into a back room to possibly be killed, he opened fire, killing...
I examined some of their products at the Knoxville gun show. I elected not to purchase anything at that time and had no means of testing any guns for fit, but the molding, stitching and dyeing - the brown holsters reminded me of that found on expensive shoes - and overall workmanship appeared...
At the gun show today, several vendors had what looks like a dead ringer for the HK MP5K submachine gun, but in .22. I picked one up and it felt pretty hefty, so it is apparently mostly or all steel. They look like fun, if you have more money than sense. ;)
I am curious, because I left a (what I assume to be) Kydex holster exposed inside my car on a hot day (approximately 150, perhaps 160 degrees inside) and came out to find the integral clip melted, distorted and bent away from the holster.
Holster in question (purchased elsewhere, not from...
Anything special? Are there any states (on the recipient's end) with laws prohibiting it? I should not need to go through a FFL, but wanted to be certain.
For taking pictures of guns, of course. :)
What kind of resolution (megapixels) is needed for, e.g., detail photos of a gun's action, that will show up clearly on a computer screen?
Image stabilization feature: necessary, or nice but not necessary? I do plan to obtain a tripod, but it...

With all the exposure they get in TV, film and books, in "gangsta" (c)rap;) songs and other media, it seems more and more that "Glock" is becoming synonymous with any handgun (even revolvers;)), much like "Kleenex" for tissues, "Google" for an internet search, etc...
If anyone wants to meet and shoot things, we can do so evenings and Sundays at SGC, or Sundays at Avery, with 24 hours notice. If you are already a SGC member, fine; if not, I have guest passes. PM for phone numbers.
I ordered it in early November 2007 and received it today. It is for a S&W 3913LS. I thought a light and slim gun deserved a light and slim holster. Beautiful work. :) It fits perfectly, not even needing a break-in period - the degree of retention is just right. Although it is thin...
I had the day off Thursday and paid both of them a visit. I had been interested in a set of these grips for my CZ PCR, so this was my first stop. Angus Hobdell laid out a selection of grips, I picked some, and he installed them along with some stainless screws that I requested. These...
I just discovered that one of my "safe queens," a nickel 6 1/2-inch 29-2, has a cylinder rotation problem. It turns and locks up fine when cocking the hammer manually, but when the trigger is pulled in DA, the cylinder does not turn. The hammer moves back and drops as it is supposed...
These all seem to be manufactured by the same company, Armscor of the Philippines. Are the trade names all different distributors, or offshoots of the same company? Who would have the best customer service and support?
