    Ruger M77 .250 Mannlicher

I have one, got it from my father when I turned 12. Red but pad and tang safety. It is a handy gun for hunting up in N. WI where I grew up and still hunt. I load 115 Nos. BT over Varget. I believe it was designated the M77 RSI. I've seen a few in .243 and .308 but I really want one in .358 Win.

    Brass for reloading?

I am fortunate enough to get 100 pieces each month of once fired Fed GM brass from a friend who is a LEO. I usually reload it twice (trimming down to min each time) for my bolt .308 and then it gets turned over to my AP4 for plinking loads. I usually get 4-5 more loads out of it before I...

    your favorite tumbler

I've had the Cabela's tumbler for about 12 years and it is still going strong. I use corn cob. My goal isn't super clean, just enough to get the junk off. My media is pretty bad by the time I decide to throw it out. I would guess on average mine runs for 3-4 hours a week and has yet to let me...

    Favorite 308 Load?

Depends on what I am shooting too. If I am going for all out accuracy in my bolt gun it is 44.5 gn of Varget over a 155 gn Sierra. Plinking with my DPMS at steel and clay pigeons out to 300, I usually run 42 gns of Varget over a 150 Hornady FMJBT. I probably have 8 or 9 different .308 loads...

Gun safe: Best place to store one?

Mine is in my family room downstairs. I look at it as a piece of furniture (bolted to the cement floor). When I bought mine my wife wondered why I would spend $2000 on a safe, I pointed to her $1000 couch and said, "I bet it lasts way longer than that will."

    impact seal reactive target

I've had the 5" ball one for a while. I use it mostly for handgun (45 acp and 44 mag). I've found my rifles will shoot right through with very little movement. It has held up very well and if I shoot this one up I will buy another. For not much money, they are a fun target to shoot with...

Does your gun club allow booze?

Where I am from (where I grew up), all the clubs have a bar and sell beer and food to raise funds. I also had my graduation party and wedding reception in their banquet hall. It is just the way it is. I can't remember a time when I have seen someone drinking beer and then go shoot (I started...

    Hornady Reloading Manual

I've been reloading for a while and usually use Hodgdon's site for double checking data I find in my other reloading manuals. That said, I picked up a Hornady manual as I want to start using SST bullets for deer hunting (loading 243, 250 savage, 7mm-08, and 308). Their book shows load data...

    300 win mag

I appreciate the response. I have both IMR 4831 and 4350 in the cabinet, I think I'll start with the 4831 and work from there. I have a bunch of brass ready to load and we'll see where it goes from there.

    300 win mag

I am going to start loading for the 300 win mag and have a few questions. I have been loading for a while, just never for this. I have some IMR 4831 on hand that I use for 30-06 and was wondering if it is a good powder for the 300 too. I plan on using 180 gn sierra's for an upcoming deer...

    Happy Father's Day!

Wife and kids got me a Lee Classic Turret. Got to spend the day with them too. Great day.

What Solvent and Oil Do You Use?

Breakfree CLP is about it 90% of the time. I also have some Hoppes #9 (which doesn't get used much) some Hoppes Benchrest copper solvent (usually used once or twice a year in my 223, 22-250, and 308 - due to the fact that I shoot them alot more than my "hunting rifles"). I've got some bore...

    Titegroup and hard cast bullets

Hogdon's website lists 4.0 - 4.8 gn of Titegroup for a 230 gn LRN. I use 4.2 over a Missoursi Bullet Company 230 gn "softball". This bullet is listed at 18 Brinell. Although I have never run huge amounts through it, after 75-100 rounds, I have little to no leading in the barrel. It took me...

    Optics hunt... Advice needed....

Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 at Amazon right now for $357, free shipping. I put one on my RRA Varmiter 6 months ago and couldn't be happier. Very accurate adjustments, very clear glass.

    250 savage loads

Been using IMR 3031 since I started loading for mine. 100 gn ballistic tip has put quite a few deer on the table. Without looking at a reloading manual, I load right in the middle as far as powder goes. Tried Varget but came back to 3031.

    AR 15 Front Sight

When I put an EOTech on my AR I was in the same boat as you. I just slapped it on there (a RRA flat top) and tried it. After 3 or 4 range sessions, I didn't even notice it. It has a standard front sight/gas block. I have come to like the true co-witness that I run now. There are two ways to...

    Case Prep

I always do, full length size and trim if need be. I follow it up with a chamfer, whether I trim or not. I have heard arguements from both sides. My reasoning: Thats how I was taught by my uncle when I started. Haven't had a bullet seating or round chambering issue yet.

    digital powder system question

I bought the PACT units about 4 years ago and put the dispenser back in the package about 3 1/2 years ago. I like the scale although I am thinking about getting a smaller one. I like the idea, but I am able to use my Lyman thrower (and trickle if need be) faster than it can throw the charges...

    What to do?

As I stated earlier, I placed an order for the new sleeve (and a set of linkage for a challenger that broke long ago). I have also placed an order for a new Lyman Crusher 2 from Midsouth. I weighed the issue for much of the day and after researching both Lyman's press and a RCBS I decided on...

    What to do?

Update: My press is not in warrenty anymore. I have placed an order for the new sleeve. Like I said before, I really like the press and am chalking this up to, as stated above, the screw was loose. After thinking about it, it was probably my fault. I couldn't check after, as the whole thing...
