Yup this is most likely a low fence deer. The King Ranch is so big they don't need high fence. I think the stats on this deer may be a bit inflated (specifically the G1s and G4s) but it is still a monster nonetheless, deer of a lifetime for sure.

For a young hunter you can't go wrong with a 7mm-08. I used a 7-08 all through my teen years and it's still my favorite caliber for whitetails and hogs. Plus there is a good wide selection of 7mm bullets to choose from.

I'd love to get one of these guns. I was looking at some laser grips for my gun and the guy there let me try out how they work. He has a 642 with them on there. That gun just felt good, nice and light. It's a gun I would love to have. Maybe I'll join the club one day:neener:

This is an interesting topic, and I keep hearing people voting for the Ruger because it is "stronger". I'm no expert in these guns, but what makes the Ruger stronger and the S&W weaker?? I may have to make a decision like this in the future.

I have shot numerous deer using a 22-250 with no problems at all. Iam not talking neck shots at 50 yards either, these are shoulder shots at 200 (at the most;) ) Maybe because they were small hill country deer It did fine on hogs also 22-250 is the smallest I would go

I used to hunt deer out of the land cut many moons ago. I think it is illegal now though or at least a bigger crime. I think back when I did all they would do is a slap on the hand and a little fine.. Nilgai is very good eating and I see them all the time when Im out in my boat...

My question is why do you even want ot shoot a lina :confused: They are just oversized rats and arn't any good eating That said I like my 7mm-08 it works good for just about anything..
