Kudos to Tim Watson...The Tirmax was a very well made 32ACP carbine made in Belgium in the early 20th century. I have a friend who owns one, they're quite rate in the United States.

Great looking Model 81 you got there Mustang51 :D Both those rifles were great law enforcement guns, both in standard and "police" format. Good shooting too! 5 rounds of 30 Remington go fast, 15 rounds just takes a tad longer!

I have a Kahr/Auto Ordnance factory built M1A1 SBR (10.5" barrel). I got mine back around 2006. When the rifle arrived to my dealer the wood color was so mismatched he sent the rifle back. They replaced the stock to closer match the forearm and grip. One of the buttplate screws was boogered...

these are VERY cool rifles. Not many other long recoil autoloading rifles out there. The Police versions are especially fun. www.thegreatmodel8.net

If money is no problem (and you can actually find one) then google "Cobb MCR-300". It's an AR-10 type rifle chambered in 30-06 that accepts modified 20 round BAR magazines. I think Cobb made 100 of them in 2006.

There is not one buttplate that came on Model 8's, but several in fact. As many as 6 or more were used throughout production. Generally though, you can tell depending on when the rifle was produced. Early production 8's used gutta percha hard rubber semi curved buttplate. Later...

I second what taliv said. I have an ATN 6900 Crusader Gen2+ on an AR15 and it's got its limitations. It's a dedicated NV scope, fixed 5x. When you have a full moon w/out overcast it really shines, good for about 125 yards. The IR is a must with it. Many disadvantages to a dedicated NV scope...
