    Springfield 1911 - Extractor Issues?

Is it a GI model? If so, that's kinda normal for them. They do not have a lowered and flared ejection port so the brass can get a little dinged up. Having said that, I'm no expert.

    Para .45 G. I. Expert

I've had one. Well built gun and very accurate. There is a new one for sale in a gun store I frequent in Gatesville TX. Price is $519.00. Great guy to do business with.

Glock 1911 tell me its not true!

Looks fake, but that's got to be the ugliest thing I've ever seen other than Janet Reno.

So what's with the Ruger SR9?

The SR9 that I had was accurate, but had the peening issue around the barrel hood. I would guess it's from incorrect tolerances and maybe soft metal. There best way that I can describe peening is this. Think of striking a steel chisel with a ball peen hammer over and over until the metal starts...

So what's with the Ruger SR9?

I bought one soon after they hit the market. I really liked the gun, but mine had some barrel peening after only 150 rounds. Not good at all. I got freaked and traded it. I've since wanted to try another, but the problem seems to have been fairly common. Are we looking at another future recall...

    Recommend a 1911 for $500

Another vote for the Para GI Expert. I've had good luck with mine.

    Best 1911 for the money

Right now my vote goes to the new Para Ordnance GI Expert. I've got a couple now and they are great.

Bought a Sigma: What's All the Fuss About?

Sigmas that I've had have all worked welll, and were decently accurate. Good gun, especially for the money..

    Kimber Classic Custom Target 1911 45ACP ?

Even with the wear, that's a steal. Kimber gets a bad rap IMO, some deserved, some not. Even if it has some FTF's, that's usually an easy fix. If he would take $400.00, if I were you, I'd be on it like a cheap suit.

Springfield XD versus Glock versus 1911

I prefer a 1911 trigger and the fact that it has a thumb safety. Don't feel at all underarmed with the lower capacity of a 1911. I shoot Glocks well, but it always comes down to the plastic. Can't seem to get past it. Don't like XD's, because I've had to many FTE's with ones I've tried.

    Any XD-M'ers here?

I just don't get it. I don't see that the changes justify the prices I've seen. There are plenty other guns I would buy at these prices. But hey, if they make you happy, great. That's why there are so many types of handguns out there. It's an individual thing.

    XD or Glock for CCW

Glock model 30 gets my vote.

    1911 love

Just seems natural to me when I pick one up.

1911 for around $800, thinking about Taurus

    +1 for the STI Spartan.

    Kahr and 1911

I've owned 2 since Kahr bought Thompson and fondled several others. It's still hit and miss IMO. The WWII model I had shot well, but wasn't put together that well, ie, loose front sight, plunger tube, slide to frame fit. The Deluxe model I owned was put together better. The ones I've handled...

    Bought a Sigma

I have had nothing but good luck with Sigmas. The trigger does take some getting used to, but it's the way they designed it.

Want to buy my first 1911: $1000 budget, but need serious advice.

1911 makers can be inconsistent. Each pistol is different and should be inspected and of course shot before any work is considered IMO. I had a stock SA Mil-Spec that was one of the most accurate 1911's I've ever had. Shoulda kept it. I've also had stock Colts that were terribly inaccurate.

High Standard 1911's, good buy or no?

These are made by Armscor of the Philipines. You can get more info on 1911forum.com or m1911.org They are well made guns with a cast frame.

Can vapors from firing old ammo be toxic?

For those interested in the outcome, my doctor gave me a clean bill of health. CT scan, MRI were both normal. All other tests A-OK. Just some freak reaction to what I inhaled.

Can vapors from firing old ammo be toxic?

With all things being considered, the doctor thought the shells were the most likely cause. I don't know if it was the powder in the shell, mold or perhaps something had absorbed into the shells over the years. I just know that it was almost immediately after that when I started feeling ill. I...
