Bought a Sigma

A buddy recently bought one. We took it to the range. I had heard that Sigmas suck, but man, I liked it. For a plastic gun it felt good in the hand. I hate Glocks, but I would consider a Sigma. The trigger, though, is something else.

Well, I finally got to try her out. Things did not go as planned. I took along 3 types of ammo, 125grn Silver Bear, 125grn Nato ball and a box of 125grn Blazer Brass. All of my shooting was done at 7yds. I loaded up the Silver Bear first. The accuracy was pretty good but it jammed on me twice in the first mag with the round hitting the top of the chamber at a steep angle. I switched to the Nato ball but it jammed again in the same fashion. Finally I tried the Blazer and it didnt jam this time. It didnt jam once the rest of the time I was out so I dont know if it was ammo related or what. Next time Im going to try each mag with each type of ammo I have to see if it was a mag issue. The only other issue I had was after I had been shooting for awhile I noticed that my groups were moving all over the place and after closer inspection I noticed that the rear sight had moved, I found that if I pushed on it I could get it to move:mad:. Granted it took a bit of force but it wasnt enough that would prevent it from moving if I bumped it against anything. So I guess a trip back to Gander is in order so they can send it back to get fixed. Other than the issue with the sights I really like it. While shooting it I didnt really notice the trigger at all, it has a very smooth pull which made it feel like it was lighter than it actually was. Hopefully I can get everything taken care of.

I too recently bought a (NIB) Sigma 9VE after finding what I thought to be a great deal (sticker price $300-$50 S&W rebate-$50 gift card included with purchase of any firearm=$200 plus tax out the door). Luckily, I had none of the issues the above poster mentioned. I need to drift my rear sight to the left as it was shooting low and to the right, but absolutely no mechanical failures of any kind. I shot 100 rounds of Winchester 115 gr. fmj, along with about 20 Federal 147 gr. JHP's. All rounds fed anf fired perfectly, rapid fire or slow. While definitely not a torture test, it was nice seeing S&W shipped these guns ready to work, rather than somehting that needed "broken in" before it'd work right. While I feel bad for the poster above me, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. For a $200 pistol, I'm definitely more than satisfied at this point. I thought the trigger would be an issue, but honestly, it wasn't much of an issue at all, as in I didn't even think about it (til I got my Buckmark out after expending my supply of 9mm ammo, anyway!!)

I have had nothing but good luck with Sigmas. The trigger does take some getting used to, but it's the way they designed it.

I fired another 100 through my new one bringing the total rounds through it to 180 and have had ZERO failures of any kind. I really like it! I have only run Blazer Brass 115gr FMJ through it so far.

I have 425 rounds down the barrel of my NIB 9mm Sigma. Assorted name brand ammo both JHP and FMJ, 115 and 147 grain. Seven light primer strikes and two jams. All ammo and both mags had a malf. It's my carry weapon so I can't deal with that track record. It's back at S&W now and I'm sure it'll be perfect when it comes back, I hope.

Im not so much worried about the jams as I am the rear sight. Hopefully I can find the time to get to Gander to have them send it back for the loose rear sight. Ill have them look at the jamming issue too while they have it. Should I send the mags with it so they can see if that was the cause of the jams or should I return the gun only? I really like the gun and I hope they can resolve these issues.

I have been looking at the Sigma for a while then bought one last month. It shoots great and feel good carrying concealed. Tight cluster target shooting.

Send the gun and the mags, as matter of fact, just send it in the same box it came in (the blue S&W box). Sucks you have an issue with it, mine has worked great minus two FTE when using Remington UMC 115gr. When using WWB or BB or my carry ammo (Federal HS 124gr) it works beautifully.
