Thanks for the feedback. I spoke with Smith and Wesson's support, and they're continuing to service the 1006's. They said they service guns as old as those made in the 1960's. At this point I think I'll keep the 1006 and save for the P220. 6 months to a year from now when I have both, I'll be glad I was a little patient.

Smith's 3rd Gens are excellent service pistols. I have the 1006, 1076, and 4566. All are great shooters. Arguably, the 4.25" 1076 and 4566 pack and conceal a bit easier than their 5" counterparts.
