I just recived 1000 147 Grain FMJ .308 bullets from RMR (super fast shipping BTW) and I cannot find load data for them. I use IMR4895 powder and have Data for 140 gr and 150 gr, and the starting charges are 49 and 50 grains . I am thinking of starting at 50 considering the weight of the bullets are closer to 150, and am just trying to get an idea of what other reloaders out there would do. The cartrige is 30-06 and I have weighed 3 random bullets, most are closer to 148 grains....thanks in advance,
John

I load these bullets with 49.0gr of IMR4895 for my Garands. If you are loading for a modern boltgun, then 50.0gr would be alright. Just don't expect "stellar" accuracy from these bullets.

In the past I have used 46-48 grains of 4895 pull down powder. The pull down powder seems to be a little hotter than stuff from a new can so I didn't want to risk hurting my garand. Anyway, though these aren't match bullets, you should be able to get groups as good as any brand new 147-150 grain FMJ bullet.

As a side note, I am picking up a bunch more pulled .308 today. I was able to get some that were over crimped by the factory so they had to be pulled. The over crimping leaves the bullet looking kind of hour glass shaped but I doubt that will destroy accuracy. I am going to load a bunch up today and shoot them like crazy to see how well they can do. The good news is that they will only be about $100 shipped for 1000. Makes for some cheap plinking stuff.

Hot damn!! My wifes gonna kill me if another 1000 rounds shows up!! I am shooting from a JC higgins model 50 30-06 (Mauser Big ring action) and primaraly plink, but they will also be used for coyote sniping in the sand pits come fall. I started loading 180 grain remington bullets but the acuracy was not there either, and it was .20 cents a round more than these 147,s are. if anyone has some accurate loads they want to share I am all ears. I have the reloading mechanics, equipment and procedure down, but I have alot to learn on different powders and formulas that work well in my gun. I also figured these bullets will come in handy when I get my M1A.............

Thanks for the load info. Instead of opening a thread I did a search and felt LUCKY to find it..

Using the slightly heavier bullet data is a great method to use. You'll always be using data that will be just a bit more forgiving during your work up process because of the 3 grains lighter bullet.
