I want to attach a flashlight to it. The reason I want to do this is because I want this to be my 'trailer gun'. So, I will have a flashlight attached to it in case I need to take it out at night and shoot mr/mrs grizz.

I just bought some ghost ring sights because I thought we had a plan to attach the rail underneath the magazine (long story, but it might have worked ;) ).

So, now I am thinking, what if I put a rail on top (where it is supposed to be) but somehow also kept a view under it/through it for the ghost ring sights.

I could buy those optic mounting things that hold a 1" scope a little above the gun. This may be the way I go, but I would prefer not to if I can have something mounted a little lower (aesthetics matter at least a little). Plus, the flashlight I have already has the rail attachment connected to the body. So, if I go this way, I need to buy another flashlight...also not the end of the world...but money is money.

Secondarily, I have a LER pistol scope that I could also mount up there if I am simply shooting it at the range (but this is not my top priority...if you guys come up with something that doesn't make that possible, I won't mind).

How would you attach a flashlight to an 1895 Marlin?

Thanks,

You could use a sling swivel stud picatinny rail adapter.

You could get a Mosberg 464SPX and mount whatever you want on it.

I would probably go with a scope with about a 32mm objective instead of the metal sights, and mount the scope in Burris XT rings with a picatinny base on top of a ring.

Install a flood light outside of the house. It would be tricky to explain to the game warden why you have a light on your rifle and a dead bear on your property.

If you must have a light, you can purchase an offset rail to attach to your standard scope mount base. A 1" scope mount ring will hold most tactical size flashlights. The Cheaper than Dirt catalog has these as well as other creative solutions.

Wow! Thanks for the input guys!

WWGuns looks like the ticket on all kinds of things for the 1895. My wife won't like you badlander: so if you see anything nasty with my name on it, it wasn't me ;).

Thanks again guys, I was getting nervous!

take the rifle out tonight after dark and hold a flashlight in your front hand. Your ghost ring sights wont even be useable unless you have a light source behind them. You can open them up and paint them with glow in the dark paint but it will have to be "charged" if want to see.

At night I won't be relying on the ghost sights. The only time I"ll shoot at night is if I see mr/mrs grizz in my campsite. At that point, I'll hit whatever my flashlight is showing me: at least close enough... :)
So, badlander, are you changing your handle to 'thick skin' :)
