Friend and I just got them and did initial break in.
I fired 103 rounds of REM UMC 230, he fired 88 of same plus 5 of WIN PDX1.
Recoil - He said it has a "snap" but I don't think he thought it was at all bad. I fired all mine 2-handed except last 3 one-handed. I was really happy - the recoil did not bother me, even one-handed - it sure jumps up, but not painful. If I had a Colt 1911A1 or a Kimber Eclipse with me for side-by-side comparison, I don't think I would have felt any diff in recoil.
Function - 4 times I had failure to feed - each time it was second round in mag, in 2 different mags. He had one time same thing - second round - his was a WIN PDX. After my shoot I talked to another friend - he said probably due to that round having greatest mag spring pressure after 1st round had loaded. He suggested loading mags and letting sit a while to soften up the mag springs.
They sure kick out the brass - I was hit in forehead something like 8-10 times - I think friend also had some forehead hits. He said the PDX brass was thrown over his right shoulder something like 15 feet. Other friend said the forehead hits were due to how gun was held - I forgot to ask him specifically what. Bawanna (KAHR Talk) told me (I think) it was caused by limp-wristing.
The guys on the forums were right of course - after 103 rounds, mine is already easier to rack - expect it better and better with more rounds. Looks like my thought of cutting recoil spring is out - thanks for good advice on that bad idea.
I now have a 5 KAHR garage. Like those of you who replied to my survey a few months ago, I am waiting for KAHR to come out with the K45 - that would be my ideal pistol - OK, well probably the MK45 too. Nothing wrong with a 7 KAHR garage is there ?
