I predict that little boys will need to have their thumbs amputated before entering 1st grade so even if they do play cops and robbers, their "guns" cannot shoot.

Naaah. You got it all wrong. To disable a gun you cut off the barrel, not the hammer. They'll cut off the boy's index finger.

Q: Why did the cowboys/pioneers/GreatestGeneration/FoundingFathers use blued steel and walnut?

A: Because they didn't have stainless steel and polymer. They probably would have loved stainless steel and polymer.

+1. I love my blued steel series 70 1911, but I have what my dad referes to as "rusty paws." So from now on, if a good stainless finish is availible, that is what I get. Polymer I could take or leave, but I don't see anyone making a steel SU-16CA. Some folks just can't stand synthetic material, even though there is a huge dif between 60's era Zytel and modern synthetics.
