308 Lever Gun

In particular, I'd like to see how well the guns made for .307 Winchester handle extraction of the rimless .308 round.

Actually the 307 is closer to being a semi rimmed cartridge as it's little more than a 308 case with a 30-30 sized case head, with the difference between the two only being .033" or .0165" both ways I'm gonna speculate that the extractors have enough meat on them to grab both pieces of brass.

For giggles I tried a piece of 308 brass on the extractor/boltface of my 30-30 savage 340 and it held onto it just fine. I'll get the winchester out later.

A 307 case is NOT a rimmed/semi rimmed 308. The 307 case has thicker case walls down low, and less case capacity. There is about a 200 fps difference in velocity (150 grainers). Using 150 grain bullets, a 307 maxes out at about 2600 fps from 20 inch tube (considerably better than the 30-30, however). With less case capacity, specific 307 loading data should be used.

Yes. The Finnwolf is a lever action using a box magazine and with no external hammer. Neat gun, I've always wanted one, though I gather spare magazines are even harder to find than the rifles themselves.

Try finding a stock for the thing sometime. That's damn hard enough. I don't even want to try finding a replacement magazine (they're three round capacity by the way)

My father owns one in .308, and as you can gather the stock is busted. Its been glued back together, but we're unsure how well the epoxy will stand up to repeated firing. I'm guessing he's going to have to have a custom stock made for it.

I hunted with it when I was younger. Really nice gun.
