.410 Gauge vs Caliber?

When talking about a .410 shotgun is it a .410 gauge or .410 caliber? I've read on here it's .410 caliber. I can't find the post. However, I've always heard of it as .410 gauge and if you look on some guns they are stamped .410 gauge.

Take this Savage for example. You can see in one of the pictures where it says .410 gauge. I was looking at this gun but bidding went way too high for me.

410 is the caliber...its a 67 guage.

Properly, it is .410-bore. .410-bore is the only shotgun "gauge" that is the actual bore size (caliber) measurement.

Gauge is measured by how many lead balls the size of the bore it takes to weigh 1 pound.

In England they call all their shotguns by bore designation. 12 bore, 20 bore, 4 bore and the like.

Come to think of it I do too.

12 "bore" is actually .730" bore (maybe .729...can't remember exactly)
