i was watching taxi driver today and I'm wondering what the 44 was he had in the movie, I have my assumptions but I was wondering if anyone knew for sure.

Make sure to buy a *used* Model 29 that was purchased as a result of the Dirty Harry movies. That way, when you hate the wrist searing pain from the full loads you bought, you'll know why such a beautiful revolver was sitting in the used case in the first place.

Buy 44 Special ammunition and just shoot that. Better yet, get a reloading setup and roll your own 44 Magnum loads. You can go from hot 44 Special all the way up to some real hot magnums.

.44 MAg + 8 inch N frame = no sore wrists. I know, I've fired them. 4 inch is tough, 6 is exhilarating. 8 inch is no prob.

BTW, .44 special is my round of choice for self defense.

A co worker has a 4" model 629 and bitches about recoil.Tried to tell him the shorter the barrel the worse the recoil. Gonna try to talk him into getting it Mag Na Ported.

The whole idea behind a 4-inch 629/29 is that when you have a charging black bear or griz headed towards you, you don't have a tendancy to think about recoil or blast. I suspect there's much to that.

It also doesn't hurt as much when griz shoves up your ......

People leave the bears alone .Its their yard ,your the tresspasser They don't have guns yet just teeth and claws to protect their property. Wonder if bears have anti claw bear groups. Maybe a waiting period
