Can a bobbed hammer on a TDA Smith and Wesson 4516 be replaced with a spurred hammer, and more importantly will you then be able to manually cock the first shot? Or is there something about the way the action is set up that prevents this change? (I'd have it done by a 'smith).

Thanks.

IIRC, you can change a 3rd gen. S&W from DAO to DA/SA with a simple parts change. Your smith of choice should be able to get the parts from Numrich, Brownells, etc.

Welcome to THR!

yes it can and yes you can and no there isn't. you can cock the hammer as it is by pulling slightly on the trigger. the top of the hammer is serrated.

The 4516 is not DAO...

My apologies; I was a bit foggy on the S&W numbering system! :)

the 4516 is a bobbed hammer SA/DA with a short barrel, correct?
