6mm Balistics?

Hello, In past years, I used to do alot of small game and some deer hunting. I have a question for the hunters and ballistic experts out there:
What would your opinion be of a 24" barreled 6mm with following ballistics for big game hunting? Would this be adequate for heavy Mule Deer?
Bullet weight: 100grs. MV. 2,680 ft/s Energy 1,595 ft-lb.
112grs. 2,650 ft/s 1,895 ft-lb.

100gr and 112grains with the right bullet it is actually quite popular overseas to take even on harder game in African planes.
The lethality of a shot has more to do with terminal ballistics than caliber and grain alone as many believe.
Given the right bullet construction and good placement on the vitals the mule will not walk away from a 6mm bullet.
The proper bullet design, sectional density, the proper speed for the bullet to do what it is designed to do and specially good placement that applies to any caliber.
A .308 WM is nice but a lot of people has problems to be accurate with it. Remember that folks in this continent hunted everything and anything with lever actions for generations so there is no need a bazooka to kill a mule.
Now, don't try long distances and impossible shots as this would not be fair to the game. Fair chance, ethical discipline and specially deep knowledge of the round and training give the confidence of a clean kill.
Popular bullets to hunt with authority are nosler partition 100gr, Barnes 85gr TSX and 80gr TTSX, Cuttin Edge 88grs, etc...

I'll pretty much be an echo chamber for 1stmarine's comments.

I've always been a bit more careful when using my .243 than with my '06. Just a "general principles" thing, I guess, not that I'm sloppy with the '06.

That'd be an awfully slow load in .243 Win or 6mm Rem. What cartridge are you using?

I don't think that he provided the MV at the muzzle but at the intended avg. hunting distance but it would be better to clarify that by the OP.

Use Nosler 95 or 100 grain partitions and it will be fine for the biggest whitetails and mulies.

That's what i use out of my .240 Wby. and with any decent shot, it works VERY well.

Sounds like a 6x45 or something.

Which should be fine. Put a good bullet in the heart/lungs, and you'll be eating a mule deer.

Not 112gr from a 6x45 nor a mule would be shot 3ft away.

A 6mm shooting a 100 gr. bullet shoudl be easily pushing over 3000 fps, and then some.
As for lethality, a long time friend and professional guide I know has only one eye, his left and he is right handed. So his rifle choice was a .243 because he didn't want to deal with much recoil shooting left handed and all. Long story short, he has dropped numerous Elk and Bear, not to mention deer using nothing but that .243. It's primarily about shot placement.
