I just found out I can buy new 870P from a guy locally for what I think is a good price. It has an 18" barrel and ghost rings. It is a couple of years old, but still new in the box. It is Order/Model #4921. What is the difference between this gun and the model that replaced it, the 4449? Should I go for it at $399? Is there anything a lot better with the 4449 that would justify me waiting and buying it for a lot more?

Every time Remington makes even a minor change, they issue a new stock number.

I believe the differences between the older and new model is:
The change to the Speedfeed brand stocks, and the addition of the Remington "R3" recoil pad.

At $399 I'd jump on it.

For $399, where at,, I'll jump on it? Does it have the mag extension on it like you wanted? If so you can always change the funiture later if it bothers you.
