Okay, so why does every single report I've been hearing on the news, including this morning on the radio, cover the AWB sunset with the phrase, "Will make AK-47s, Uzis and Tec 9s available to the public after being prohibited for 10 years."

Are they all reading from the same Brady Bunch press release? I already have a very low opinion of journalism's "standards", and it's getting lower by the minute. What, is a two minute Google search to actually get some facts about the ban too much for these people?:cuss:

Way too much. At least they are consistent in their own minds. Back in '94 they declared that it was Uzis Ak47s and Tec9s that were looking to be banned.

"Journalism" is dead. Reporters these days don't research their stories, they just take whatever they are handed and regurgitate, without ever checking the facts or talking to the other side.

I see this at every level, from the free local weekly rag that shows up in my mailbox to the biggest international names, networks and syndicates.

I hate to admit it, but I'm a little confused on some of the AWB also.

I keep reading 19 "types" of firearms were prohibited and can now be sold.
Are they talking about the cosmetic variations on existing semi-autos, or actual brand names of guns?

The thing I find the most confusing is that all the major news stations, CNN, MSN, FoxNews, etc... keep saying that the AWB will end tonite at midnight...

Having read the BATFE FAQ, I was under the impression it ended at 12:01AM last night... meaning it has expired...

Am I correct or no?

Well according to the offical ATF website the ban went dead 12:01 AM Monday morning. And since they're the ones that enforce the laws I'll go with them before I'll listen to what the media has to say.

And speaking of TEC-9s I've been thinking about something. One of the firearms that the two boys that perpetrated the Columbine shooting was supposedly a TEC-9. Now I'm sure most of us, if not all, have seen the frame from the survalliance video that shows a side shot of one of the killers holding the pistol. Now to me that weapon looks like a AB-10 and not a TEC-9. Im my opinion the lack of a barrel shroud gives it away.

Now it's been a lloonngg time since I've handled a TEC-9 so I personally am not 100% that the shroud was not detachable. Also this would mean that the barrel would have to be detachable to some degree as well, since there was not a long barrel where the shroud would have been.

Hmmm; all this talk about the TEC-9 makes me curious about something. Was it covered by a ban other than the AWB? I want to say that it was banned under some other law after that shooting in California that involved one.

I'm personally considering and thinking about what it would take to begining manufactureing these guns again; if I could do so legally. Of course I would also need to wory about things like getting a manufacturing license, the copy rights for the designs, and simply getting the machines I would need to make the things.

And speaking of out of production firearms; any one know if there is any plans out to renew production of the Calico line? Come on people; you know you want that SICK high capacity that Calico offered. :D
